An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated registered Band 5 nurse to join our friendly specialist surgical team in the Dermatology Department of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop their skills and career to become a specialist dermatology nurse within the department that is currently under refurbishment and expansion with a new additional theatre being built.
The post holder will be required to deliver high quality care, supporting and assisting the dermatology surgeons, and provide clinical nurse advice, education and treatment resulting in an improved standard of care.
Our dermatology department provides various surgical procedures all of which are undertaken under local anaesthetic including specialist MOHS surgery, minor surgical procedures, and post op wound clinics.
All training, support and supervision will be given with competencies completed to ensure safe best practise.
The Dermatology Team for Bucks NHS Healthcare comprise of consultants, specialist doctors, specialist dermatology surgeons, dermatology surgical nurses and specialist nurses. We also have two Macmillan nurses who are on site weekly to provide support for dermatology patients.
The department provides various specialist services including Mohs surgery, minor surgery, phototherapy, general dermatology, outreach service, day unit for admission avoidance, patch testing, paediatric allergy, leg ulcer clinic, acne clinic, and drug monitoring clinics.
The dermatology team work together to provide the best quality of care and support for patients and and support for each other.
A monthly Clinical Governance and SDU meeting is held and staff are encouraged to attend.
- To carry out assigned tasks within the department assisting in the management and flow of patients in the department.
- Assist and chaperone in surgical clinics, patient procedures and assessments to ensure safe and efficient running of service
- Work under guidance of the surgical team supporting and ensuring the service demands are met, assisting with the treatment and management of patients
- Take an active role in the day to day running of the department including ordering and monitoring of stock and supplies
