Fitter / Fabricator - Recycling Machinery & Conveyors
The role is factory based, supporting the service support team who work remotely. Whitham Mills Engineering specialises in fully automatic recyclables baling, conveying and sorting systems for some on the UK’s largest retailers and waste companies:
- Tesco/ASDA/Morrisons/Co Op
- JD Sports
- ASOS.com
- Biffa and Veolia
The role requires a fitter/fabricator to help with:
- Fabricating spare parts for recycling machinery and conveyors
- Assist the onsite service management with fitting recycling machinery and conveyors
- Supporting the remote service team from the factory
We supply all types of waste equipment including fully automated balers, conveyor systems, shredders, and recyclables sorting systems.
The role comes with significant amounts of overtime hours and enhanced overtime pay.
The basic full-time hours are 39hrs per week (Mon – Thurs 8.00am – 17:00pm, Fri 8.00am – 17.00pm including ½ hour for lunch) but the job also includes enhanced overtime rates and will require staying away from time-to-time.

Main duties will include:
- Working safely and to the required standards.
- Working alone or as a team member.
- Communicate faults, parts, repairs and work carried out and required.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the following attributes:
- Mechanical – Stripping and rebuild equipment in our workshop and on customer sites, installing new equipment, refurbishing used equipment.
- Full, clean driving license.
- Self-Motivated and reliable.
- Communicate both face to face and over the telephone in a confident friendly manner.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: From £15.00 per hour
