About ZELP
ZELP (Zero Emissions Livestock Project) is a company developing cattle wearable technology to significantly reduce agricultural methane emissions - the leading source of methane emissions globally. There are a number of departments within the company (Software, Hardware, Chemical etc.), with the Design Engineering team being one of the most critical components within ZELP. The team works on all the mechanical elements of the device.
Job Details
A Design Engineer (Junior) within Zelp will report to a Senior Design Engineer and help with the day-to-day project work. The expectation is to gain relevant experience and progress to a Design Engineer role within 2 years. The responsibilities include:
- Supporting any design or drawing activities required by the engineers within set deadlines
- Hands-on prototyping and building of test samples
- Producing and maintaining thorough and accurate design project documentation
- Preparing, testing, and monitoring the progress of trials so that all failures to meet requirements are corrected in a timely manner and communicated effectively to the team
- Implementing design changes that are evaluated for feasibility, cost, and timing and implemented with care and thoroughness
- Supporting other departments with problem-solving and other project activities
Experience / Qualifications
Working knowledge of:
- 3D CAD Modeling
- Basic 2D drawings
- Basic tolerance stacks
Has had exposure to
- FMEA
- GD&T
- Practical experience of prototyping.
- Hands-on testing
- 3D printing (FDM / Resin, STL file preparation)
Nice to have experience in:
- Cradle to grave projects
- Manufacturing at high volume / production lines
- Product data management / Engineering changes
- CAD Surfacing / Assemblies
- Farm / Agriculture experience
