Job summary
Recruitment is the Insolvency Service’s current number one priority. Recently a new centralised recruitment team has formed. We are looking for an enthusiastic recruitment officer to join the team who will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of the Insolvency Service's recruitment needs.
The team are responsible for identifying, planning and fulfilling the Insolvency Service’s resource requirements to ensure that we have the right people with the right skills and at the right time.
We are working to improve the service experience for candidates and vacancy managers, the time we take to hire new employees, and to increase the diversity of our candidate pool.
As a recruitment officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of the Insolvency Service's recruitment needs.

Job description
As a recruitment officer, you will support the Agency on all recruitment matters to meet the requirements of the organisation, which enables an evolving and adaptable workforce.
The successful candidate will be working within our centralised recruitment team, dealing with a variety of duties relating to the end-to-end recruitment process.
The Insolvency Service currently has a hybrid working policy. Employees are expected to attend the office an average of 40% of their working hours.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of recruitment campaigns, including the uploading of sift and interview results, sourcing panel members, liaising with recruitment agencies and vacancy managers, arranging interviews, and providing feedback to candidates.
- Provide recruitment approvals, working with vacancy holders to ensure appropriate governance is maintained for all types of vacancy.
- Provide advice, guidance, and support with recruitment, ensuring it remains fair and open and roles in the process are understood.
- Support with onboarding to ensure a smooth transition into the workplace, including the drafting of employee contracts and handling of candidate ID documents.
- Provide administrative support, including maintaining accurate records while ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.
- Respond to enquiries from candidates and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain great working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Occasional travel will be required to attend team meetings.
This is a non-apprenticeship post and open to all, however if the successful applicant is currently undertaking a Level 3 apprenticeship within the Insolvency Service they will be required to continue through their current programme until it’s successful completion.

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
- Excellent administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a recruitment or HR environment.
- Knowledge of diversity and inclusion principles and their application to recruitment.

Selection process details
As part of the application process you will be asked to complete a personal statement and a 250 word Behaviour statement. Further details around what this will entail are listed on the application form.
Your personal statement should be no more than 500 words and should explain how you consider your personal skills, qualities and experience provide evidence of your suitability for the role, with particular reference to the essential criteria in the person specification.
You may want to consider the following statements when creating your Personal Statement:

1. Things that interest you is this field of work.
2. Instances when you have had to deal with a difficult customer.
Please consider: What challenges you faced and how you dealt with them, how you dealt with the customer? and what was the outcome of the situation?
3. Situations when you have worked in a team to achieve a common goal.
Please consider: What qualities you brought to the team to help achieve the goal? What challenges you faced and how you dealt with them and what was the outcome of this?
4. Instances when you had to complete a large volume of work within a tight timescale.
Please consider: How you motivated yourself? How you overcame any setbacks? How you prioritised the work?

You are also requested to provide a 250 word statement for the Behaviour, Managing a Quality Service.
After submission of your application you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Verbal Test and Civil Service Numerical Test.
Please complete the online tests as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended), the closing date for the tests is 23:55 on 2nd June 2023. If you fail to complete the online tests before the deadline your application will be withdrawn. Guidance for the tests will be available when you are invited to take the tests. Should a large number of applications be received, an initial sift may be conducted using the Personal Statement. Candidates who pass the initial sift may be progressed to a full sift, or progressed straight to assessment/interview.
We will test your ability and experience as part of the sift process, if successful you will be invited to a short interview where we will test your behaviours and strengths. Full details of the selection process will be made available to shortlisted candidates once the sift has been completed.

Transforming Workplaces
The Insolvency Service is currently delivering an exciting five-year transformation project that started in April 2022 which will define our future direction supporting a gradual migration to a Regional Centre model combined with smarter ways of working. As part of this, transforming our estate will align us with the government modernisation programmes making The Insolvency Service a great place to work.
We are letting you know about our future plans because if you are joining the Insolvency Service and are recruited into an office over the next five years that is not one of the Regional Centres, you will be expected to move to one of the Regional Centres in the future. This move would not attract financial assistance.
The 11 Regional Centres are : Birmingham, Cardiff, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Ipswich, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Stratford.
Hybrid Working
Insolvency Service operates a hybrid working policy subject to business need, giving people the flexibility to choose when and where they work and collaborate with others.
Individuals are expected to work from one of the office locations stated in the advert to connect with their colleagues, as required by their role and business team needs. There is flexibility to split the working week, spending a minimum of 40% in the workplace, which includes the office, site visits, court etc.
