We are looking for a Receptionist to join our Events team based in Coventry.
The MTC prides itself on providing a comprehensive, high-quality level of customer service to its colleagues, members, visitors, contractors and corporate clients.
The role will play an integral part within the ‘Events’ team with a scope including traditional front office duties on behalf of all MTC colleagues and stakeholders. This role in particular, will support both MTC , AMTC reception and events
Key duties will include:
- Working with the Front of House Guest Services Team Leader and Operations & Services Manager, act as the first point of contact welcoming all to the site.
- Enforcement and administration of the MTC’s clearly defined access policy in order to maintain a secure environment.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge in respect of arrivals & requirements and planned visitors is a necessity in order to plan resources and rotas.
- Supporting to booking in visitors to the site and act as first point of contact for all internal and external visitors.
- The role will be responsible for confirming Internal room booking requests through the Condeco Request Management tool or co-ordinate direct requests where needed.
- Play a key part of site security processes in particularly the administration of the visitor, members and contractors access policy.
- Maintain security by controlling access via the reception desks in line with MTC Access Policy for visitors, members and contractors.
- Order front office supplies and keep inventory of stock.
- Support with onboarding and offboarding of new colleague accounts and leavers, on to the Condeco Desk Booking system and the cashless EPoS system.
- Traditional front office duties are a requirement including the handling and directing of emails and telephone calls with care, commitment, accuracy and in a courteous manner.
Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate who has:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally.
- Experience of working within a busy events team, conference venue or hotel
- Identification Verification
- Meeting room configurations.
- Level 2 Food Safety
- Room Management diaries systems
- Telephone systems and forwarding calls.
In addition:
- Passionate about working within a corporate and hospitality environment and takes pride in their work.
- Excellent customer facing and service skills with good interpersonal skills and the confidence to deal with people at all levels to present a positive impression.
- Enjoys developing working relationships with external organisations.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise and keep calm under pressure.
- Organised and self-motivated and able to work alone unsupervised.

About The MTC
The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) was established in 2010 as an independent Research & Technology Organisation (RTO) with the objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry – often referred to as ‘the valley of death’.
It represents one of the largest public sector investments in UK manufacturing and, after four years of planning and a 16 month build, the facility opened at Ansty Park in Coventry at the end of 2011.
In December 2011, there were 16 industrial members, 44 staff and just a few key pieces of equipment in the ‘workshop’.
Over the following 10+ years the MTC’s rapid growth has seen the expansion of our campus with the construction of three more facilities, including the opening of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre and the National Centre for Additive Manufacturing.
Our role has also increased to cover not only R&D but also Training, Advanced Manufacturing Management and Factory Design.
We now have over 800 talented employees working with us.
During this time we have helped hundreds of companies across a range of industries and over 100 of them have become members of the MTC.
