TITLE: Medical Receptionist and Patient Interviewer

Position Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is to greet and interact with all patients in Women First’s healthcare setting. The Medical Receptionist provides comfort to patients by anticipating anxieties and effectively answering questions. Primary responsibilities include processing every patient encounter accurately and communicating the patient’s arrival to the clinical staff. Managing the practice’s registration software program, Phreesia, is a critical role ensuring patients are registered accurately and promptly. Necessary updates and changes must be processed timely and accurately in the practice management system, Allscripts PM.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet patients in a comforting and compassionate manner.
Effectively respond to patients’ questions and concerns.
Direct patients to a Phreesia registration self-check-in kiosk, or provide a Phreesia computer tablet as appropriate.
Enter needed patient demographic data and changes into the practice management system after reviewing Phreesia updates (Ensure cell phone numbers and email addresses are entered accurately.)
Ensure patients’ driver licenses and insurance cards are scanned into Phreesia and/or Allscripts PM as appropriate.
Review financial polices and HIPAA with patients.
Explain Advanced Beneficiary Notification (ABN) to Medicare patients.
Scan appropriate registration/financial documents into the EMR system as needed.
Handle returned mail patient address change notifications.
Respond to questions regarding copayments, coinsurance and billing inquires.
Collect payments/co-pays/patient balances from patients and balance all cash daily.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
Minimum of one to two years of experience in a medical office including billing, check in, check out and/or registration.
Prior experience working with insurance carriers and medical billing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the general public.
Knowledge of and experience with Allscripts and Phreesia would be beneficial.
Excellent Keyboard skills.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Physical contact with patients may be required.
Work may be stressful at times.
Interaction with others is constant.
Sitting, walking, lifting, bending and reaching overhead.
Frequent use of keyboard, computer and telephone. Requires hand and manual dexterity
Education
High School Graduate or G.E.D.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
