The Project:
The project site is the U.S. Army Garrison Hospital, located on the atolls of Kwajalein and Roi-Namur in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, a scenic chain of Islands equidistant from Hawaii, Australia, and the Philippines. It is one of the largest outsourced medical facilities in support of the Department of Defense. Since 2018 International SOS Government Medical Services, has been subcontracted to manage the 10-bed Critical Access Kwajalein Hospital, dental clinic, veterinary clinic, and a medical clinic on Roi-Namur. Kwajalein is a 6.5 square mile atoll where bikes are the primary mode of transportation. The more than 1,500 residents include military personnel, Army Civilians, contractors, and their family members. Kwajalein is home to one of the world’s largest coral atolls and lagoons. The year-round warm and sunny weather supports a variety of activities, such as scuba diving, sport fishing, sailing, and water skiing. The military base also boasts a movie theater, bowling alley, gym, ceramics studio, and small shopping areas.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcomes patients and visitors into the hospital and offers assistance with any inquiries they may have; including checking them in for their appointment and answering phone calls and emails in a prompt and efficient manner and routes them to the proper department as needed.
- Efficiently manages electronic scheduling system to arrange patient appointments and follows up to provide reminders.
- Verifying financial records and collecting patient charges while filing and expediting third-party claims
- Works with the finance office for daily bank deposits
- Coordinates with Triage Nurses for patient scheduling and provider availability.
- Maintains patient records by verifying accuracy of personal and billing information each visit.
- Manages office inventory and equipment by performing consistent stock checks, anticipating needed supplies, placing orders for supplies and scheduling maintenance for equipment service and repairs as needed.
- Actively participates in day to day office activities, including a variety of meetings and groups to improve procedural processes, obtain approvals, and remain abreast of new developments and policy requirements.
- Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
- Performance of other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an administrative role preferably in a hospital setting.
- Medical terminology certification highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate
- This position is unaccompanied.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- US DOD NACI clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
- Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
- A valid passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
