Job description
The Dental Receptionist is an integral part of the Community of Hope’s health services team. As the Dental Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and a key part of ensuring that they receive exceptional service. You will be responsible for creating a smooth patient flow at the front desk by promptly checking patients in, ensuring all forms are completed and, and collecting payment. In addition, you will facilitate communication with patients by answering phones, routing messages to appropriate staff for assistance, and scheduling appointments. This position will be based out of our Conway Health and Resource Center in SW DC. This is a full-time position.
Highlighted Duties and Responsibilities:
- Registers patients in eCW and obtains required documentation.
- Updates demographic information at every patient visit.
- Answers and screens all telephone calls appropriately and independently, creates telephone encounters and forwards them to the appropriate personnel.
- Marks appointment statuses appropriately dependent on clinic flow and calls patients daily to confirm, cancel, or reschedule appointments;
- Registers patients in eCW and obtains required documentation;
- Verifies patients’ insurances and determines any charges/copayments; collects payments for visits and issues receipts to the patient;
- Complies with COH policies and state and federal regulations governing confidential information, including HIPAA.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED;
- Exceptional customer service skills;
- Ability to work a Saturday rotation (meaning if you work Saturday then you can get a day during the week off)
- Proficiency in written and oral communication;
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Medical or Dental Receptionist.
- Experience working with underserved populations
- All Health Staff must receive the required vaccinations. This includes annual flu and covid vaccines. Medical or religious exemptions may be requested.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, we provide medical, dental, behavioral health, and care coordination services for the whole family at three locations in DC.
