We are currently looking for a highly motivated receptionist to provide a first class patient focused service within our Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic.

You will be required to manage a busy telephone system and input/process HSQ/surgical referrals that are sent into the service from other departments and brought to clinic following an outpatient appointment by patients . Also ensuring that the clinic's appointments are booked ensuring clinics are fully utilised. You will also be required to provide admin support to other areas of service and action any administrative tasks that are sent in daily to the Pre-Operative Assessment Team.
Team work and flexibility to the role is paramount as POAC is and continues to be an evolving service.

1. Providing a reception service for POAC and undertaking clerical duties as required.
2. To answer all telephone calls in a timely manner, dealing with the requests of the caller and directing them to the most appropriate areas of the unit, politely and effectively.
3. To be responsible for notifying patients when operation lists are cancelled.
4. To be responsible for taking patient cancellations regarding Pre-Operative assessment appointments and Anaesthetic clinics and action them on the IT systems.
5. To meet and greet patients politely that arrive for pre assessment, Anaesthetic appointments and surgery within the unit.
6. To check patient demographics details on PMS and obtaining the correct information and amend if necessary on both systems.
7. To assist those patients who have difficulty in completing health questionnaires required for Pre-Operative assessment.
8. Responsible for photocopying requirements as and when requested. Ensuring that the supply of patient E-Ido leaflets is well stocked and replenished as and when required.
9. To ensure that post delivered is distributed to the addressee
10. Uniform is provided and must be worn correctly and appropriately as per uniform policy.
11. To book/ cancel Pre-Operative assessment appointments and ensure that all the appointment are recorded on PMS. Patient are to be added to the Waiting List if this had not already been completed to ensure traceability..
12. Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed in advance of the patient’s appointments.
13. To take patients in wheelchairs to the discharge lounge in concourse as and when required.
14. Answering telephone queries, dealing with them if appropriate and ensuring that messages are given to other staff to deal with.
15. Updating information involved in admitting, discharging and transferring of patients to and from the clinic with the use of PMS.
Other duties commensurate with the band as requested by the assistant directorate manager/service manager and clinical leader of the clinic.
