Receptionist/Administrator

Location: Dudley

Salary: £23,000 per annum (pro-rata)

Hours: Between 8.00 am – 6.00 pm, 4 days per week (35 hours per week)

Contract: Part-time, 12-month fixed-term contract (MAT cover)


The Black Country Living Museum is seeking an organised Receptionist/Administrator to join the Visitor Welcome Team. As a part of the Visitor Welcome team, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our guests experience a professional welcome by providing a seamless service upon arrival. If you're a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills, we'd love to hear from you!


What will you be doing?

  • Providing respectful and inclusive customer service in person, over the phone, and via email communications.
  • Using digital systems for visitor transactions and cash handling.
  • Checking building safety daily before visitors arrive.
  • Managing and keeping records of incoming deliveries.
  • Controlling access at entry gates, and verifying credentials.
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail efficiently.
  • Assisting with various clerical tasks across departments.
  • Manage lost property and communicate with visitors.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Serving as a Learning Centre Fire Marshal (training provided).
  • Perform other duties as needed.

  • Experience manning a business reception desk
  • Demonstrable administrative experience.
  • Confident IT and written skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
