About the role
The receptionists will cover the 3 main reception areas within the Hospital, welcoming patients, with some telephone answering and redirecting, enquiry handling including self-pay enquiries, and medical document handling.
The receptionists will be the first person our patients see when arriving, and the ideal candidate will be friendly, approachable with outstanding customer service skills. They must be able to work well within the team, whilst able to use their own initiative to resolve problems and manage the day-to-day issues that may arise within a busy hospital environment.
About the Shifts
We will be offering part time and full time rota patterns. Our rotas will be based on a 2 week rolling pattern covering our opening hours between 0645 - 2100 Mon-Friday, 0700-1300 on Saturdays. Shifts are between 5-7 hours in length depending on the pattern selected (please ask for further details on shifts)
Responsibilities will include:
· Delivering exemplary customer service as the first point of contact within the hospital either by phone, e mail or in person
· Welcoming patients and visitors on arrival
· Undertaking patient registration, ensuring correct demographics are recorded on the Compucare IT systems on arrival, and making necessary department aware of patient arrivals.
· Monitoring and tending to patients in the waiting areas
· Answering telephone, taking messages, redirecting, or responding to Self-pay enquires.
· Monitoring patients journey through the hospital and supporting clinical teams for timely discharge
· Work alongside the consultants and clinicians in the provision of patient care, responding to requests in a timely manner, whilst ensuring protocols and procedures are followed.
· Ensuring waiting areas and reception areas are always clean and tidy, and meet health & safety / infection control standard
· Liaising with porters and other in-house Facilities services as required
· Amending, cancelling, patient booking lists, and liaising with clinical/ booking teams updating them on changes and cancellations
· Management of the medical record function, storage, retrieval, tracking, preparation for new admissions and copying of records as required
· Follow patient confidentiality policy and be aware of the data protection
· Completing Patient Pre-Authorisation checks – as required
· Taking payments and entering payments on the system
· Other Ad Hoc duties requested by the management team
