Job Purpose

The possession support worker will carry out duties under the direction of the PICOP (person in charge of possession) or relevant supervisor. You will aid in the safe delivery of access to the railway infrastructure by having available the necessary equipment and complying with the plans provided for delivering the access arrangements.

When a section of track is required for maintenance, possession of the line is taken under control of the PICOP to provide protection for the workers. You will play a vital part in this process.

Please note the majority of work will be during the night and you will be working alone.

Duties

  • To assist the Person in Charge in of the Possession (PICOP) in Implementing arrangements
  • Support the relevant person with the movement of Engineering Trains
  • Comply with all relevant legislation and railway rules
  • Clearly communicate with the relevant individuals
  • Follow industry and company reporting procedures
  • Accurately complete the relevant documentation

Essential skills & requirements

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Confident working alone
  • Willingness to learn and develop with a drive to progress within the organisation

Essential qualifications

  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence

Desirable (but not essential)

  • PTS (Personal Track Safety)
  • IWA (Individual Working Alone)
  • Possession Support
  • Manual Handling
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Some understanding of the railway industry

Part-time hours: 35 per week

Salary: £21,000.00-£23,000.00 per year
