Job description
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team and manage the financial aspects of our rail projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction and be familiar with the rail industry.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare cost plans and estimates for rail projects
- Conduct feasibility studies and provide advice on cost-effectiveness
- Negotiate and agree on contracts with suppliers and sub-contractors
- Prepare and maintain project budgets, ensuring that costs are controlled and kept within budget limits
- Regularly monitor and report on project progress and cost status to stakeholders
- Ensure accurate cost and value reports are produced on a timely basis
- Ensure that all relevant financial, legal, and contractual requirements are met
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers, including monitoring and controlling their performance
- Identify and resolve disputes and claims related to contracts and costs
- Provide support to project managers in relation to project planning and cost control
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor
- Knowledge and experience of working within the rail sector
- Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in using cost management software
