What does the role look like?

We're recruiting two exciting roles for our Wolverhampton site; Supplier Quality & a Supplier Development Engineer.

Whilst the roles have similarities we're looking to speak to a range of candidates who have experience or skills in the following: driving supplier quality performance improvements and can ensure compliance within the supply chain, exposure & experience to setting up line balances, engineering changes & working practically solving supplier issues as well as possessing a fantastic Quality toolkit.

You will either work alongside the internal value streams, supply chain or be out in the supplier base supporting our other Collins sites mainly in the UK but they may be some overseas travel when required.

You could either already be in a similar role or we'd be interested to hear from Operations or Engineering biased candidates looking to further develop skills in Supplier Quality or Supplier Development.

We do offer a hybrid working pattern: Where possible, we seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working for these roles. This will vary depending on the nature of the work requirements.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Develop processes which interface with the Suppliers and Collins Aerospace.
  • Improve supplier performance through the supplier quality strategy. Leads initiatives with a direct impact on reducing non-conformities and ensuring quality standards are in effect.
  • Frequently analysing supplier defects metrics to implement improvement plans.
  • Review audit results and trends to identify and implement systemic corrective actions
  • When issues have systemic root causes, ensure the corrective actions are read across processes, products, and suppliers as necessary.
  • Generate reports for business Corrective Action Board (CAB) and management reviews.
  • Ensure Quality Notifications (QN) and SAP Quality Issue management (QIM) related metrics are reported accurately and timely manner.
  • LOB tracking, Component Expediting and reducing lead time on critical programs. Arears recovery and execution of BTG plans with critical suppliers.

  • To work with Collins stakeholders to resolve technical, Quality and engineering issues within supplier manufacturing processes.

  • Drive resolution to Supplier escapes and prevent re-occurrence.
  • Improve Customer satisfaction for SQA department.
  • Drive the Collins Zero Defect Plan and AS9145 across selected suppliers.
  • Support the Quality Management System to ensure compliance to all applicable requirements e.g., AS9100, & Customer.
  • Ensure critical Non-conformances are actioned through 8D’s and other problem-solving tools.
  • Update internal procedures and supplier flow downs to capture preventative actions and lessons learnt.
  • From time to time provide cover for the Supplier Quality Manager and Supplier Quality Engineers.

  • Understanding of business processes with a high degree of commercial acumen.

  • Understanding of Supplier Quality requirements and contractual flow downs.

  • AS9100 Lead Auditor Training or Industry equivalent would be advantageous
