We are looking to recruit a driven, proactive Quality Assurance Tester to join our Business Process & Improvement Team. If you can hit the ground running, enjoy the fast pace of a Business Process Department, and want to enjoy coming to work, this could be the role for you!
As a Quality Assurance Tester, you will support the BPI Manager, the business and the wider CDER Group of companies. You will be responsible for providing a disciplined approach for testing change configurations and new business processes in our in-house collection platform and deploying to the organisation.
The role is office based, located at our Darlington office, and with Hybrid working there is also flexibility to work some days from home. The role is a full time, permanent position working 9-5 Monday to Friday and reports to the Head of Business Process & Improvement.
Responsibilities
- Analyse change requests and business requirements
- Challenge proposed changes to ensure the request and required outcomes are understood
- Identify process efficiencies that could be made as part of the change.
- Determine other processes/areas of Edge that could be affected by the change.
- Author comprehensive test cases based on the business requirements.
- Create test tickets in the Jira ticketing system.
- Clearly document tests carried out and results of the tests on the relevant tickets.
- Build and maintain a relevant and re-usable set of data that can be used when conducting tests.
- Design and implement automated testing processes where possible for repeat tests.
- Implement load testing processes and capabilities.
- Complete user acceptance testing.
- Complete quality assurance testing.
- Create a standard set of default tests that should be carried out on all configuration changes.
- Clearly document defects and bugs found during testing and raise relevant tickets.
- Implement a testing strategy/process which is aligned with industry best practice.
- Identify cost savings.
- Assist in the safe and correct application of configuration changes to Edge.
- Draft a full set of QA test cases to be carried out on each change, and highlight scope, impact, and mitigations for any residual risks.
- Work with the Head of BPI and Project Manager to progress new initiatives/innovations/improvements particularly how they would be tested/proven.
- Optimise development of innovative test solutions.
- Propose new projects to build solutions.
- Validate forecasts and assumptions.
- Assist with solution assessment and validation
- Compare planned and actual results of business plans.
- Learn from incidents and take action to prevent them happening again.
- Conduct effective risk management to mitigate/minimise risks.
- Contribute to a centre of excellence for innovation.
- Proactively identify operational and business challenges and provide timely solutions.
- You will be required to support and facilitate auditing and reporting of issues raised and work carried out.
- Assist in increasing business retention, keeping costs contained and building better relationships with customers and key stakeholders
Personal qualities, experience, and skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to make own decisions and problem solve.
- Strong attention to detail
- At least 4 years’ experience in a software testing role for a similar size organisation (400 FTE+)
- Experience with automated testing processes within a Java Vaadin/Java based application.
- IT literate, expert in Microsoft Office Packages including Excel.
- College or University education in IT, Software Development or similar.
- An ISTQB certification in software testing or similar.
Desirable skills
- Prince2 or Agile project management practitioner.
- Change management practitioner or similar.
