Role

We’re seeking a gifted corporate communications and public relations professional to help us tell our story. The Director of Corporate Communications creates and implements Crown Castle’s external communications strategy to meet immediate and long-term goals. This individual works closely and collaboratively with teammates across the company to drive solutions that strengthen, nurture and protect the company’s reputation and brand and bring value to our shareholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive external communications strategy that delivers results in support of Crown Castle’s business goals.
  • Strengthen, nurture and protect the company’s reputation.
  • Advise our cross-functional business leaders on communications strategies and specific appearances, media opportunities, messaging and issues.
  • Design and execute executive visibility and thought leadership programs.
  • Develop and execute content distribution and publishing plans.
  • Write, edit and produce content for a variety of communications products and channels.
  • Research, write and organize messages supporting corporate and cross-functional team needs.
  • Serve as one of a team of spokespersons proactively and reactively engaging with local and national news media and other external parties.
  • Detect public relations issues as they emerge.
  • Work with external and internal partners to conduct opinion research.
  • Develop and execute the appropriate response or proactive engagement strategies to help the company manage issues and respond to incidents or situations.
  • Strengthen relationships with external entities, serving as an advocate for Crown Castle.
  • Develop resources and deliver training to support teammates as active ambassadors for the company.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams, such as investor relations, marketing, external affairs and internal communications, to ensure that objectives are met within resource constraints.
  • Help to manage outside agency, partner and vendor relationships.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of messaging and communications initiatives on an ongoing basis.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, advertising, marketing, journalism or similar or bachelor’s degree with substantial demonstrated experience applicable to the role.

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience serving in public relations or communications roles in a corporate or agency environment required.
  • 8+ years of experience in a publicly traded or other for-profit company required.
  • Experience in a technical organization or industry preferred.
  • Experience writing and producing externally facing products across a wide variety of channels that tell the stories of complex organizations, technologies and issues.
  • Experience working with agencies to achieve communications results and conduct opinion research.
  • Experience serving as a spokesperson and a news media liaison, reacting to inquiries, pitching stories, and working directly with executive leaders and reporters on difficult issues.
  • Experience crafting and managing key messages covering a range of topics and audiences.
  • Experience creating effective executive visibility and thought leadership programs, including writing, producing and distributing content in support thereof.
  • Experience leading goal-driven, cross-functional teams.

Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Familiarity with design and multimedia production workflows to be able to task and interact effectively with creative teams.

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in your assigned office approximately 60% of the time (3 days per week) and where you do your best work 40% (2 days per week). There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
