The Role

As a QA data scientist of the LNER's ML Team you have the unique opportunity to critically assess and validate all modelling tasks related to our ML production pipeline. You will design and implement tests, quality assurance safeguarding metrics and statistical models for online monitoring of the performance of the live production ML models. You will use generative models to create synthetic datasets for the ML model testing, assess the ML models based on the various data corruptions, data drifts and out-of-sample detection techniques. Based on your assessment and inputs, you will decide when to trigger the new machine learning model lifecycle. You will share your knowledge and experience with wider LNER audience.

About You

  • Strong academic knowledge and experience with large variety of machine learning modelling including deep learning and Bayesian modelling.
  • Excellent knowledge of the out-of-sample modelling techniques, uncertainty modelling and distributional shifts modelling.
  • Excellent knowledge of generative models.
  • Excellent knowledge of machine learning libraries, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Sklearn, Pandas, Scipy, Numpy, etc.
  • Expert in Python.
  • Basic software engineering skillset and experience with software testing engineering.
  • Proficient in technical writing.
  • Long standing experience with communicating to technical and non-technical audience.

What Helps To Stand Out:

  • Academic qualification in machine learning, mathematical modelling, or statistics. PhD qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Cloud tech stack knowledge and previous experience with using AWS solutions.
  • Proficient in Unix environment.
  • Previous experience in working with large scale datasets.
  • Previous experience in software quality assurance is strong plus but not essential.
