Sandwell Children's Centres:
Barnardo's is proud to be the lead provider of Sandwell's Children's Centres across the Borough. The service provides a range of quality services for families, locally designed for the 6 town areas of the Borough, divided into 3 areas:
Cluster A - Oldbury, Smethwick
Cluster B - Tipton, Rowley Regis
Cluster C - Wednesbury and West Bromwich
Across the cluster, we are committed to delivering a robust offer for communities and residents, designed to promote access to services, reduce barriers to engagement and build resilient communities.
You will be part of the Health, Well-Being, Engagement Team which takes an active lead to working with health practitioners, partner organisations, local communities and residents to achieve best outcomes for the families within that area (for the purpose of this JD parents includes parents, carers and guardians).
Objectives/key activities – Volunteer Coordinator
- To plan and deliver targeted service elements, in line with the KPI's and outcomes around education, training, volunteering and employment.
- To work in collaboration with the wider Sandwell Children's Centre Offer teams as well as the voluntary and community organisations, focusing on education, training, volunteering, and employment opportunities.
- Recruit local parent volunteers to support/enhance the delivery of services within the Sandwell Children's Centre Offer.
- Be responsible for advertising and recruiting volunteers across the locality.
- Provide inductions and promote/support additional training and retention of good quality volunteers.
- Provide hands on support to volunteers whilst in placement to support their development as well as ensuring provision of a high-quality service to children and families.
- To maintain accurate database, records and reports that form part of analysis and monitoring.
- To undertake the appropriate checks for volunteers and students liaising with service managers, supporting with risk assessments where required.
- Be responsible for volunteer supervisions and support as needed.
- Coordinate volunteer training and placement including quality assurance and safeguarding
- Facilitate volunteer placement within the relevant service area
- Develop systems to support volunteers and enable clear pathways into further education or employment.
- Work with the wider Health Well-being and Engagement team within the Children's Centre Offer to meet the needs of the service across the borough i.e. contribution to other service initiatives to ensure positives outcomes for children and families.
- Support the design, maintenance and promotion of materials and opportunities designed to attract, engage and build relationships with communities, including through the Virtual Children's Centre Offer, social media, newsletters etc.
- Deliver activities and opportunities for Voice and Influence work with the volunteers to ensure co-production and service design.
- Notify the line manager of any potential issues, concerns in regard to volunteers conduct/performance and safeguarding.
- Support Team Manager/Children's Services Manager in developments across the locality
- Support pilot projects within community as well as other relevant initiatives.
- To meet the needs of the service evening and weekend work will need to be undertaken as required.
- Any other duties deemed appropriate within your job role to reflect the needs of the service.
