Role Summary:
We are looking for a highly capable individual, responsible for the development and implementation of Quality and Inspection Control within the business. The role will oversee both planning and management of the inspection department covering critical dimensional & visual inspection of components manufactured and also setting metrology strategy across our Metallics and Composite value streams. You will be supporting Production and Engineering functions to ensure business delivery, seeking to ensure the products and services of the company are of the highest standard.
You should have a good understanding of the inspection processes and Quality requirements of the business and an individual job, communicating well with all key stakeholders to deliver to agreed schedules.
Key Responsibilities
To ensure that all of the products leaving the business are fully conforming, fit for purpose and meet the Quality standard as set internally, regulatory and customer requirements.
Be the primary link between Quality, Production, Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure there is a coherent plan in place and the Inspection Department is delivering the required service provision to business and customer needs.
Lead a team of Inspectors, day to day scheduling workload, performance management and training.
Defining training and development to ensure the team is suitably trained and there is a development path in place for each individual.
Defining inspection tool needs for the department including requirements for equipment and tooling, including new/future inspection technologies/techniques. Creating inspection plans, inspection reports and programming of inspection equipment.
Defining departmental KPIs and ensuring the department is achieving these objectives.
Drive process improvement through data driven decision, improving inspection processes and methodology.
Managing calibration schedule across the site, ensuring all functions deliver to the schedule and escalation where required.
Work closely with all key stakeholders through ensuring that there is a coherent plan between current production requirements and our product development pipeline.
Working closely with Quality and Project Engineers, to define inspection plans for NPI and adhoc support for project milestone delivery requiring Inspection support.
Support non-conformance investigations, where required identifying root cause and corrective action implementation, supporting customer investigations.
Required Experience
Previous work experience in a managerial inspection/analytical role is essential.
Team management/great team coaching skills.
This role requires good technical experience with metrology methodology and tools.
Have the ability and confidence to recommend and implement adjustments and improvements to the assembly and production processes.
Consult with the Health and Safety team to provide Risk Assessments and Method Statements. A good understanding of industry HSE practices would be an advantage.
Work with contractors and business partners to carry out product inspections and quality assurance as required.

Technical, hands-on approach with a good understanding of the commercial implications and requirements of mall and high volume production.
PC Literate and able to use or quickly learn SolidWorks, SAP Business One, and Adept.
Enthusiastic and flexible in performing a wide range of tasks within and sometimes outside of their standard job description.
