We are looking for a QA Lead to join our development team in the UK Payments group. The role will focus, initially, on supporting a transition from various legacy platforms to a new global payments platform being built from the ground up by highly skilled development teams across the world. Once the transition to the new platform is complete, the QA Lead will oversee all areas of testing for the UK QA team. You will be responsible for ensuring UK testing aligns with the Xplor global QA framework and that appropriate testing of features has been carried out.
This is a hands on role, you’ll be expected to be actively testing and developing automated tests where appropriate.
Xplor UKs head office is in Newcastle but our development team is fully remote; occasional travel may be required for team meetings.
Purpose of Position
People Leadership - Provide leadership, guidance, and motivation, assisting with training and development. Collaborating with the line manager for annual performance reviews.- Test Leadership - Working along with the VP of QA Engineering in running the QA practice and executing the QA strategy at Debitsuccess.
- Software Testing – Perform hands-on testing within the Scrum team

- Identify and guide the QA team members with appropriate training courses
- Coach and mentor QA team members to grow professionally
- Strive to keep the QA team members passionate about software testing, through attending courses, meetups and conferences and regular knowledge sharing sessions
- Undertake training of new QA team members in areas of expertise if required
- Assist QA manager in hiring activities such as shortlisting CV’s and conducting interviews
- Undertake one on ones with the team members, and performance reviews
- Act as an escalation point for unresolved or escalated issues, ensuring swift resolution
- Determine effective team utilisation through proactive capacity forecasting and planning to optimise the use of resource capacity and capability across the team.
- Managing the onboarding/roll-off activities for QA resources who join or leave the team
Test Leadership

- Govern test process within the Scrum teams
- Assist testers in test planning
- Advocate for appropriate level of automation checking with the Scrum teams
- Plan for test teams and environments to have the right tools (manual and / or automated) in place enabling ability to deliver consistent and quality output
- Identify QA resource needs within the Scrum teams
- Liaise with Automation core team regarding automation progress in the Scrum teams, framework enhancements, coaching, process and workshops
- Support other test team members and associated IT and Business resources as appropriate to the implementation of testing related activities.
Software Testing

- Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
- Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test scenarios
- Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
- Design, develop and execute automation scripts
- Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
- Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet business needs
- Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
- Monitor debugging process results
- Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions
Health and Safety

- Meet health and safety obligations for the business, ensuring personal safety in differing work environments for all employees
- Provide active input to all Health and Safety meetings, processes, and practices
- Undertake all work in a safe manner and follow all company and workplace Health and Safety procedures
- Follow procedures in relation to the correct operation of equipment and the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required

Essential Job Experience
- Experience in test leadership
- Experience in test planning, design and execution
- Experience in writing automation scripts, C# test automation frameworks preferable
- Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (such as AzureDevops)
- Experience with tools like JIRA and Software Development and Collaboration tools such as Confluence
- Experience working in a microservices based architecture system
- Experience working in an Agile environment - SCRUM
