Our community eating disorder (ED) services are undergoing transformation, and we’re recruiting final year Trainee Counselling Psychologists to join us in realizing our vision for a single service for adults with eating disorders across Coventry and Warwickshire.
The initial phase of our service development is to implement a severe service across Coventry and Warwickshire. You will also work across mild to moderate eating disorder pathways in Coventry.
This is as a career development role. Starting on a band 6 whilst you complete your studies, progressing to a band 7 on qualification, with a preceptorship to a band 8a within 12-18 months on a full time basis.
We will work with you to ensure that you have the range of clinical experiences to meet course requirements and time to complete your studies. We can also provide research / service evaluation opportunities if required.
You will join a multidisciplinary team with an international reputation for the treatment of eating disorders. We have a team of Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and Psychological Therapists who can provide supervision and consultation and a wider MDT to help you develop as a Psychologist.
This post involves clinical assessment, (including assessment and monitoring of risk); psychological formulation; individual and group psychological therapy interventions for people aged over 18.
This post will be under the close supervision of a (HCPC) registered qualified Counselling or Clinical Psychologist.
Under the supervision of of a qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (HCPC registered practitioner psychologist) carry out comprehensive psychological and cognitive assessments, formulate psychological needs, and plan, implement and evaluate delivery of individual and group psychology interventions and consultations.
To undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans that are shared with the service user and MDT.
Ensure that a carer’s assessment is offed to carers of service users, as in line with Standard 6 of the National Service Framework.
To establish and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with colleagues, other agencies, people who use services and their carers and support staff.
To contribute to conducting clinical audit, quality assurance and research, maintaining current knowledge of research findings and development within specific care group.
To contribute to initiatives to ensure that the diverse needs of people within the care group are addressed within local services and future developments.
Ensure detailed and appropriate records are maintained to demonstrate that contact with people who use services, and their carers’, is meaningful and effective.
To show personal and professional development through weekly clinical supervision, shadowing, joint working, personal study/CPD and reflection.

QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree in Psychology, or an equivalent qualification, which confers eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society.
Post-graduate skills training across a range of psychological models, for example systemic, cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic.
Enrolled on a recognised HCPC approved and BPS accredited Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology as a third-year trainee.

EXPERIENCE
Experience of paid or voluntary work in a clinical, community or clinical-academic setting exposing the person to client groups and service settings directly relevant to the application of psychology in a clinical setting.
Experience of working with people a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles.
Experience of the practical application of a range of psychological models including systemic, cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic.
