Job description
We are recruiting a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner or Assistant Psychologist to deliver interventions to staff members as part of our permanent, specialist Staff Psychological Support Service. The contract is fixed term for 12 months, 18.75 hours per week. Whilst this post is advertised on an acting / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) has a national reputation for placing staff engagement, culture and wellbeing at the heart of what we do, with our award-winning staff engagement model and our long-established philosophy of ‘happy staff, happy patients’. WWL has also been at the forefront of staff support during the COVID-19 pandemic, with our stepped-care model of staff support. Having evidenced the effectiveness of this model to date, we have recently secured funding to expand and consolidate our offer to staff, and we are now looking to recruit a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner or Assistant Psychologist to deliver therapeutic interventions with staff.
Please note that we reserve the right to close this position early if sufficient appropriate applications are received. Candidates who carefully demonstrate how their experience relates to this specific advertised role are more likely to be shortlisted in the event of receiving a large number of applications.
The postholder will form a crucial part of our offer, delivering evidence-based interventions directly with staff on a 1-1 and group basis, including with our pioneering outreach programme, enabling appropriate, timely support for staff who are on sickness absence. The postholder will also have an opportunity to support our reactive work, such as when staff members have been part of a critical incident. The main difficulties that the postholder will be working with are mild-moderate anxiety, depression and trauma, although they may also support with other difficulties. Staff members may present with difficulties related to work and/or personal circumstances, meaning that there is a good variety of casework within the role.
