Job Title: Principal Accountant Statutory Accounts - HC610861
Location: Strategic Headquarters, Leigh Road, Eastleigh
Salary: Grade F, £51,660 - £56,634 Per Annum
Hours: 37.00 Per Week
Contract: Permanent
Closing Date: Sunday 20th August 2023 at 23:59 Hours
About The Role
Your role will be to manage overall service delivery of the statutory accounting function, including the production of the statutory accounts and compliance with Financial Regulations and other force policies.
Responsibilities will be but not limited to:
1. Influence the Constabulary and OPCC on all significant matters relating to its finances, corporate financial strategy, and financial management.
2. Responsible for the production of the Annual Statement of Accounts, including the programming and drafting of reports and liaison with the External auditors.
3. Develop and maintain financial accounting systems including responsibility for ensuring maintenance of accounting structure and other key accountabilities.
4. Be proactive in maintaining high standards of budgetary management and control throughout the OPCC and to develop and manage systems in support of this.
5. Lead on the compliance with the Prudential Code and the production of Prudential Code Indicators.
6. Line manage the Compliance and Travel Desk Team, ensuring that all related policies are updated and maintained in line with the latest requirements.

Essential Qualifications
Qualified Accountant and a member of a recognised professional institute. Evidence of continuing professional development.

Essential Experience
Experience in financial and senior management in large organisation
- Leading and delivering the key accounting functions, particularly year end accounts, or experience in a specific technical area of accounting.
- Experience in financial and senior management in large organisation.
- Managing or leading a team – team management skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365. Use of finance systems
- Organised and able to prioritise activities, often to tight deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to achieve ‘right first time’.
- Good follow up skills to be able to achieve pragmatic solutions within defined procedures.
