Job description
As part of the experienced and supportive team, the role will involve:
- Conducting your own caseload predominantly on straightforward transactional matters such as the grant of equipment leases and licences.
- Providing support to lawyers in relation to their varied caseloads. This could involve supporting other lawyers across Environment Agency Legal Services.
- Developing own knowledge and expertise on Environment Agency requirements and processes.
- Contributing to the development of training sessions to the wider business.
- Managing the submission of Land Registry and Stamp Duty Land Tax applications.
- Working with Team Leaders and lawyers in achieving efficiencies including file closures, preparing engrossment documents, submission of searches, maintaining up to date internal databases, updating precedents, carrying out research for and on behalf of lawyers.
- Assisting lawyers in instructing counsel and external solicitors in accordance with internal procedures and support the management of such instructions.
- Maintaining business relationship with clients.
- Setting and achieving personal objectives and contributing to the achievement of team objectives for the relevant financial year.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a caseload of property transactions.
- Legal research and analytical skills will be beneficial.
- Some commercial awareness and an understanding of clients’ needs.
- Willingness to assimilate new areas of law, develop knowledge and apply knowledge to work in progress.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and on your own.
- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to accept changing priorities when new jobs need to be done.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Power Point, Excel, Word and Outlook
- Drive to achieve results and learn new skills.
- Anticipates potential problems and identifies a range of possible solutions.
