Project Security Officer

The Opportunity
You will be reporting directly to the head of Bid and Programme Management and the Senior Information Risk Owner, you will provide bid/project managers with specialist advice to help them ensure compliance with relevant information security requirements. You will also play an important role in improving our information security posture by helping raise awareness of the cyber threat and inculcate a strong information security culture across the business.
You will help develop Plans and Procedures that ensure compliance whilst enabling effective working methods. As well as this, you will need to conduct and/or organising security audits/assessments to test adherence to business policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for conducting security briefings to Thales personnel to ensure that a culture of security awareness is maintained and that staff understand their roles and responsibilities in respect of security – this will include briefings carried out as part of bid or project launch activities.
Additionally, you will need to issue regular communications on security matters to ensure that staff are aware of changes in legislation or policy and the emergence of specific security issues or threats. You will also help control and facilitate the distribution of sensitive information assets internally to Thales and with third parties. As well as, controlling sensitive physical assets (e.g. cryptographic or media) in accordance with policy and supporting the conducting of investigations into breaches of security.
About You
You will have a detailed knowledge of security requirements across the defence and commercial sectors and have experience of:
- HMG’s Contractual Process;
- HMG Government Security Classifications
- Security Policy Framework;
- Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus
- DEFCON 649, 658, DEFSTAN 05-138 and the Cyber Security Model;
- Reviewing and negotiating Security Aspects Letters;
- Preparing F680 and F1686 applications;
- ISO 27001 and NIST SP 800-171 security requirements;
- The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification model; and
- ITAR
