What you will be doing

You’ll become the directing mind for the Projects you run and be accountable for their financial performance and the assured realisation of benefits. You will take on schemes from an outline level of detail from our Asset Management teams and progressively manage them through a structured Project delivery lifecycle into new or improved assets that are fully integrated into our existing asset base, which will allow our Operations teams to take on the day-to-day responsibilities for them.

You’ll hold an important role in ensuring the successful delivery of our Capital program involving multi-project programs of work as well as complex engineering infrastructure projects typically ranging from £1m to £100m in value and running from between 12 months to 3 years in duration.

This role is based within the Thames Valley area of the business focusing on areas within the Waste Water area of the business on the above ground Thames Water Assets

Main accountabilities of the role

  • You’ll oversee the development of project briefs, including supplementary information for the subsequent early contractor involvement phase of the project
  • You may need to manage several complex/ high hazard Project works requirements and will need to work closely with our delivery partners to manage these risks successfully and keep our people and the public free from harm.
  • You’ll be the directing mind for your Projects and be accountable for the recommendations and decisions you take throughout the project lifecycle and are responsible for keeping to our Corporate Governance requirements for all investment decisions/ commitments
  • You’ll maintain reliable financial forecasts for the overall project costs across the month, quarters, year, and AMP intervals
  • You’ll manage threats, opportunities, and issues in a fully transparent manner through effective reporting and escalation

We’re looking for you to

  • Be educated to Higher National Certificate /degree level with a background in a relevant operational or project management capacity
  • Have good general commercial acumen and applied knowledge and comprehension of general contract law and administering contracts in a named role capacity
  • Be fully capable of integrating time, cost, quality, risk, and benefits parameters to assure
  • Have a strong focus on continuous improvement and creating a learning culture that looks to improve business processes and performance.
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong internal and external customer service ethic, be approachable when dealing with customer satisfaction and feedback
