Brief Description
This newly created role provides an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team responsible for leading Security, Crime and Resilience across Network Rails Southern Region. You will be the regions focal point for Resilience, providing guidance and support around Business Continuity, Emergency and Contingency Planning, Security, Cyber Response and Operational Resilience.
You will work cross functionally to develop and improve resilience strategies and processes to help manage and mitigate risks, and provide assurance to the region around its preparedness against business interruption.
About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities
1. Accountable for development, implementation, and governance of the Southern Regions resilience activities and processes in line with Network Rails six resilience disciplines, defining and coordinating workstreams to support corporate resilience objectives, and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
2. Support the maintenance and testing of Business Impact Analyses and Contingency Plans to identify critical activities and plan for their continued operation at times of disruption.
3. Working with the route teams, coordinate the development and implementation of an annual programme of planned exercises to test the effectiveness of security and contingency arrangements in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders, and monitor routes performance against the programme
4. Assist and support the routes in understanding the internal, external, regulatory and legal requirements around resilience, disseminating information and updates from the centre and other bodies, providing assurance to senior leadership around compliance.
5. Lead the Security and Contingency Planning Team to support the routes in regulatory compliance and continuous improvement, promoting the development of a security culture across the region
6. Assist and advise the route with continuous improvement relating to incident management and disruption by facilitating debriefs following exercises and significant incidents; coordinating lessons identified and helping disseminate these.
7. Liaise with and build relationships with Local Resilience Forums (LRFs) and external stakeholders to influence resilience and collaboration with interested parties including those from the wider rail industry and emergency services.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to degree level or be able to show equivalent level of experience and competency
- Proven experience in multiple resilience disciplines (e.g. Business Continuity, Emergency and Contingency Planning, Cyber Response, Disaster Recovery and Incident Management,).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with influential, persuasive and negotiation skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of resilience standards, legislation and best practice.
- Good leadership skills with proven experience of team management.
Desirable
- Membership of a relevant professional institute (e.g. MBCI).
- Good understanding of Information Security principals and policies (e.g. ISO27001)
- Knowledge of the wider rail and Information and Communications Technology industries.
- Understanding and experience of operational security matters
Salary: £44,690 - £50,276 Band 3B
