We believe that excellent training and development is essential to our success. Skills, operations and leadership training – We have dedicated route and regional teams to manage local training plans. Our network of qualified trainers use their hands-on rail experience to deliver industry leading skills, operations and leadership training locally and through our dedicated development centres.
What will you be doing?
The Strategic Capability team, part of Network Rail Training, provide project and consultancy services to the rail industry relating to the introduction of new technology and training.
The team also supports Eastern Region as a trusted training partner and the post will predominately be supporting the East Coast with their Digital Transformation Programme in the medium term. The post will be responsible for project managing the delivery of training for our Operations and Maintenance colleagues in the East Coast Route, enabling their use of ETCS technology.
Working as a Project Manager, you will need to be highly organised, flexible and able to prioritise your workload as required. Your communication and problem-solving skills will be effective and suitable for a wide range of stakeholders across the Programme and Route. You will have experience working in business change or training and a passion for development of technology solutions for the railway. You’ll be confident in project planning and identifying a range of solutions to deliver training in an ever-changing environment.
Main Responsibilities- Deliver individual projects or parts of projects in a safe & environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Managing Successful Programme methodology, applicable Network Rail company standards, current legislation and procedures including HMRI guidance where appropriate.
- Provide a professional, consistent and effective project management service including the use of performance indicators and project reporting systems in accordance with Railway Group and Network Rail’s company standards and guidelines.
- Manage the development and delivery of change projects in compliance with company processes and procedures.
- Manage tactical change and risks within the project life cycle for allocated schemes.
- Assist or lead in the provision of a safe working environment in the execution of managed work.
- Manage external supply chain partners to deliver key project deliverables to time, cost and quality.
- Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.
- Manage the production of project management plans
- Manage project budgets within agreed targets
- Deliver regular progress reports to key internal and external stakeholders on change projects, including relevant risks and issues.
The ideal candidate
- An established project manager with experience of managing multiple technology orientated projects
- Experience in Business change management and managing change projects within technology projects
- Commercial contract development, delivery and post contract phases expertise
