Hinkley Point ‘C’ (HPC) is a vital part of the UK’s future energy strategy. As the first of the UK’s next generation of Nuclear power stations, HPC is both of high profile and high complexity.
We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Marine Programme and report directly to the Delivery Manager. In your role you will manage the procurement and on-site installation works for a tunnelling contract for the Fish Return System. The Fish Return System (FRS) is designed to protect marine life and is the provision of an outfall structure to permit the return of fish to the sea.
As a Project Manager you will provide leadership to ensure the effective delivery of activities in the programme to time, cost, safety, and quality, while recognising and managing the impacts of the programme on the wider Project.
This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to join the Hinkley Point C Project, any individuals currently working within EDF and/ or on HPC. We can support with a permanent move, or a secondment opportunity of around 60 weeks and are happy to talk more about this at interview stage.

What you’ll be doing…
Supporting, directing and reporting on the progress of procurement and construction arrangements.- Defining the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme.
- Securing the required resources to meet the project requirements, ensuring the maintenance of SQEP for any assigned resource and promptly identifying any personnel shortfalls or issues within the project team.
- Developing and executing effective execution strategies and plans in line with the overall Programme Execution Plan (PEP), setting out how the programme of work will be managed, organised and executed. The PEP sets out the “why”, “what”, “how”, “when” and “who” for the delivery of the programme.
- Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and execute the project or PEP strategies within the assigned contract or package of work.
- Driving the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements.
- Managing a multidisciplinary team (Commercial, Quality, Engineering, Construction) to supervise the contractors’ installation at HPC.
- Providing all required reporting information and escalation to the Senior Project Manager
- Undertaken earnt value management analysis and forecasting.
- Responsible for administering all aspects of the contract with the support of a commercial manager.
Who you are…
The scope for this role includes onshore, tunnelling and off shore packages. Whilst specific experience in these type of packages is not a must have, the successful candidate will have sufficient wider civil/engineering technical experience that they can understand and resolve the technical challenges supported by the team.
Your background may include some of the following:
Degree/HND - Civils, Building or M&E related*.- Preferably chartered (CIOB, ICE, IET, CIBSE, etc)*.
- PM Qualification or proven experience of operating within recognised PM delivery methodology.
- Proven experience of managing construction/infrastructure projects with tunnelling or marine works experience being preferential.
- Experience of managing NEC and/or FIDIC contracts.
- Able to demonstrate strong management skills including financial, risk, change, engineering, and schedule.
- Appreciation of Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements in a highly regulated environment.
- Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
- Experience of managing contractors, consultants, and other advisors.
- Micro-tunnelling experience is an advantage.
Demonstrable experience in lieu of qualifications are acceptable.
