CPI handles many projects of varying scale and scope, both commercial and public-funded. The Project Manager will be required to take overall responsibility for a number of internal and external (customer) of varying complexity projects. As the Project Manager, you will be required to deliver these projects successfully to meet time, quality and cost targets, realising measurable benefits and thereby ensuring satisfied customers and providing a foundation for repeat business.
As a Project Manager working with our Biotechnology business unit, you will join an established growing team that manage CPI’s project portfolio to ensure that we deliver impactful projects that delight our customers. As Project Management is a matrix function within CPI you will find there is the opportunity to work across a range of technology areas. You will be provided with the opportunity for training and development to achieve an APM qualification. CPI’s dynamic environment means that you will be challenged and given opportunities to grow and develop with the company.

The person we are seeking
Essential:
Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in an Engineering/Science or Business-related subject with relevant industry experience or can demonstrate significant experience within a similar Project Management role.
It is essential you can demonstrate a relevant project or technical background with experience in managing multiple project-based activities. That you are, a team player who is pro-active with a “can-do” attitude, as these attributes are essential to delivering the role fully.
Candidates are required to have demonstrable experience of establishing good relationships across functions and at all levels within an organisation, on-time delivery of the technical and multidisciplinary project and controlling multiple concurrent projects. With the ability to develop a strong and constructive relationship with the delivery team.
It is essential that candidates have an appreciation of commercial aspects to usefully contribute to project scope, definition, and control, quoting, contract agreements and change control.
Demonstrable experience in the management of single projects of more than £100K and adept in financial and project processes. For example, managing project budgets, cost control and forecasting utilising labour and material resourcing is essential.
Candidates must be financially adept; understand the concepts of budget control and is experienced in financial reporting (cost of sales, revenue, etc.) and is versed in using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to communicate.
Will be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication.
Desirable:
A background in Lifesciences with a Project Manager qualification such as APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or an International Project Management Association (IPMA) Level D qualification equivalent.
Experience in managing R&D projects with high levels of uncertainty in a scientific environment is desirable.
Experience of the requirements and reporting needs of public and private projects.
Ideally, you will have an awareness of the technology areas in which CPI operate and an ability to manage project technical work.
Previous experience of working with cross-functional teams and managing their expectation would be advantageous.
Ideally, candidates will have gained and can demonstrate active listening skills and knowledge from working in a fast-paced corporate environment, other environments can also be considered.
Candidates will be able to demonstrate resilience gained in previous project delivery, working to challenging deadlines and managing conflicting priorities.
