Job description

We’re recruiting a Project Manager to work as part of the Reimagining the British Museum project team (RBM) to deliver projects and organise international travel.

This is a temporary role from July to December – 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities (in order of priority)

  • To deliver projects from brief to closure and evaluation, on time and on budget.
  • To establish clear project objectives, working collaboratively with the RBM project team, Public Engagement and Estates and Capital Projects departments.
  • To develop teams for individual projects to ensure appropriate input of relevant stakeholders, within and outside the Museum.
  • To prepare schedules showing a project’s critical path and key milestones, identifying and managing dependencies between projects.
  • Manage project budgets and financial administration, planning financial estimates and resources required from the Museum’s technical and specialist staff and from external contractors and consultants.
  • Ensure that appropriate mechanisms and processes are in place to identify and manage risks and issues, maintaining risk registers and issues logs as required.
  • To contribute to the procurement of external contractors and consultants for nominated projects and manage contracts to ensure successful delivery.
  • To develop travel itineraries, risk assessments and emergency management plans, and support the administration team with organising and booking international travel.
  • To manage progress reporting and contribute to other reports, publications, and the dissemination of the project’s results as appropriate.
  • To maintain all internal and external relationships at the highest possible level and adopt a diplomatic, tactful and professional approach at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a project manager or similar role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure projects.
