WMG is a vibrant, cutting-edge research institution at the University of Warwick, one of the world’s leading research and education groups with state-of-the-art technologies. At WMG together with our partners Deepen AI, we have created the Safety Pool(TM) Scenario Database, world’s largest test scenario database for testing of connected and automated vehicles.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join the team as a Software Developer, to design and develop cutting edge software for the testing of autonomous vehicles. You will work in collaboration with industry and academic partners and will be responsible for project delivery and providing regular updates to the Principal Software Architect and Head of Verification & Validation.
You will need to have strong knowledge and experience of having developed web-based applications using Microsoft technologies.
We are looking for someone with experience of web technologies such as Microsoft Blazor and/or Razor, ASP.NET Core MVC, HTML, CSS, as well as C#, Net Framework Core 3.0 or later, Entity Framework Core, LINQ, and Microsoft SQL Server. Knowledge of Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure, Linux, and Java would be beneficial.
You will also need to possess strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be flexible, and have well-developed communication and collaboration skills, to be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
You will be employed to work on the Safety PoolTM Scenario Database and various verification and validation research projects in collaboration with our partners (industry, academic and government). You will assist the Project lead, Principal System Architect and Project Collaborators in the successful execution of the project. You will be responsible for developing, testing, maintaining, and documenting the Safety Pool(TM) Scenario Database.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To design, develop, and implement enhancements for the database system for the testing of connected and automated vehicles. This includes applying technical design and development skills to the creation of database programs and analysing existing databases.
2. Investigate, diagnose, and provide solutions to system defects or performance issues.
3. Analyse data for inclusion into the database and create scripts for uploading data into the database.
4. Contribute to on-going research activities within the team, assisting with academic publications, technical reports and other presentations and dissemination methods.
5. To identify, operate and install suitable equipment to support the project objectives. Carrying out suitable tests to evaluate the equipment performance effect on product to push forward the boundaries of current knowledge in each topic area.
6. To back up data on a regular basis.
7. To share information with colleagues and produce recommendations.
8. To manage research aspects of the project including contributing to academic publications, technical reports and other presentations and dissemination methods
9. To assist with the development and delivery of teaching and training materials to disseminate the research findings in a format that will encourage successful implementation.
10. To record and track the delivery of outputs during research & identify routes for achievement of targets.
