Who We Are
Stryker’s Medical division is seeking to hire a Staff Project Engineer, R&D to support our Basic Life Support and AED product line. You will serve as a key project leader, motivated problem solver, and relationship builder with key stakeholders and cross-functional team members. In this role, you will focus both on NPD & Sustaining projects.

What You Will Do
As a Staff Project Engineer, R&D, you will lead a cross-functional engineering team in the planning, coordinating, monitoring and execution of new and current medical device projects. Responsibilities may include leading both technical, non-technical and implementation teams. Provides guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members. This role leverages project management skills for mechanical projects but leverages a broad knowledge of engineering disciplines including systems, electrical, and software engineering.
Provides expert level contribution and reviews technical deliverables.
Balances business acumen, experience and technical expertise to develop solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Ensures that solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
Effectively communicates with other engineers and functional managers. Actively and clearly exchanges information. Raises frank questions and suggests solutions. Works well with and actively participates in the team. Shows good judgment in appropriately reporting matters to manager/ management. Provides feedback and openly discusses technical details with peers. Communicates effectively with leadership. Collaborates across functional areas to maintain tight operational sync; realigns as needed and minimizes surprises.
Contributes to defining the direction for product design, processes, standards or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on work group results.
Develop and maintain project plans and schedules in collaboration with other functional teams.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the engineering project team.
Accountable for meeting project scope, milestones and cost objectives.
Work is performed with minimal direction. Exercises judgement in identifying and completing deliverables.
What You Need
Required
Bachelor’s Degree required; Mechanical engineering or related preferred
4+ years of work experience required
Preferred
Knowledge and understanding of product development within a regulated quality system.
Experience in working with cross functional and outside design partners.
Demonstrated ability to determine and meet project objectives and timelines.
$95,500 - $156,400 salary plus bonus eligible + Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Assistance Program, Wellbeing Program, Employee Stock Purchase Program). This information reflects the anticipated salary range for this position based on current national data. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
