RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Responsible for ensuring that own personal work area is prepared for own caseload. To plan and prioritise own duties, domiciliary visits, training activities and clinics.
- Responsible for ensuring that all equipment used by self is in good working order and calibrated on a daily basis. Reporting faults as per departmental policy.
- To perform precise otoscopic examinations.
- Perform routine diagnostic testing procedures; including Audiograms, middle ear function and reflex tests and speech tests following recommended procedure guidelines on adults and children from ENT/ wards and GP’s, and secondary referrals from other consultants. Assess and interpret results and report on as necessary. Careful and accurate recording of patient’s sessions either in hospital notes or on the departments Patients Management System.
- To assess patients referred by Direct Referral from their GP as per departmental policy.
- Selecting appropriate hearing aids/prescription formulae for individual patients, from a wide range of digital hearing aids including in-ear aids.
- To perform verification tests (REM ).
- To provide rehabilitation, counselling, advise and training to new and existing hearing aid patients.
- To carry out follow up appointments and perform outcome measures in the form of questionnaires
- Take impressions of adults and children’s ears for hearing aid moulds whilst following recommended procedures
- Dealing with telephone and basic clerical duties making and sending appointments, dispatching batteries to health centres.
- Accurate entering of patient details onto the departments Patient Management System.
- Provide all aspects of audiology to patients in a community outreach clinic/Domiciliary setting and on the hospital wards for the weekly repair round.
- Being aware of child protection issues and adhering to hospital procedures
To be successful in applying for this role you will need:
· To be a patient and compassionate person
· Highly organisational and ability to work alone
· Have an existing depth of knowledge for Audiology
· Be able to use Auditbase Patient Management Systems
· Be able to use and have an understanding of Oticon Hearing Aids
