Your new role
Here at National Highways, we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Support Officer to join our Major Projects directorate as part of the Regional Investment Programme division (RIP) with a specific initial focus on our A27 Worthing and Lancing improvements project.
The successful candidate will be based in Guildford, however, here at National Highways we have a hybrid working approach, meaning the role will include a combination of attending the Guildford office and other National Highways and supply chain offices along with agile working from home.
The key purpose of this role is to support and enable the delivery of capital investment projects in the Major Projects directorate. You will be responsible for the delivery and coordination of high quality and time sensitive project and administrative support, dealing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Therefore, it is crucial that the individual for this role is proactive in their approach and will take the lead in pushing forward in order to achieve project objectives.
What you'll be leading on
- Provide comprehensive project support for project management activities including finance, document control and scheme governance ensuring the accuracy and quality of project data and compliance.
- Operate many administrative processes, ensuring that these are delivered accurately on time and in with line with defined procedures and standards.
- Support with timely preparation of meetings and engagements with internal and external stakeholders, taking accurate minutes/records where required.
- Develop and sustain effective working relationships with key stakeholders in National Highways and the supply chain.
- Co-ordinate high-quality responses for customer contacts and ensure correspondence, such as responses to complaints or customer enquiries, are drafted and completed to high standards and in a timely manner.
To be successful you will have
- Exceptional organisational skills including managing multiple tasks to deadlines
- Experience in the use of business information and IT systems (such as document management) with the ability to manage information and create reports.
- Evidence of great written and verbal communication skills with experience of answering queries, drafting and managing correspondence.
- Experience of delivering great customer service.
- Evidence of being a strong collaborator, to gain the involvement and engagement of a wide range of stakeholders.
Desirable
- Project and or/programme support skills with knowledge or experience of project and or/programme management.
- Committed to continuing professional development (CPD) to enhance own skills, thereby contributing to project success.

We deliver capital improvements that will improve infrastructure, helping to grow the economy and delivering wider social benefits like connecting communities or encouraging the use of sustainable transport.
