Project Architect
The role
As a Project Architect here at TalkTalk, you’ll define IT Architecture solutions for our business initiatives to deliver on our company objectives, whilst leading the development of project architecture across multiple domains and maintaining an end-to-end view of the overall solution, whilst owning the project architecture vision which defines how we deliver transition states and roadmap.
The team
The Architecture Practice contains Enterprise, Programme, Project and Lead Solution Architects teams that work across all functional areas of TalkTalk.
The team for this specific role specialises in designing cross-domain solutions that span our consumer, direct and wholesale divisions of TalkTalk.
The product set spans everything we deliver including broadband, TV, high-speed Ethernet and corporate network solutions, across the full product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Architecture
- You’ll lead the development of project architectures in a specific business, infrastructure or functional areas, and within a change programme, you’ll lead the preparation of technical plans.
- Providing advice on technical aspects of solution development and integration you’ll ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are utilised correctly.
System Design
- Designing medium or complex systems, you’ll adopt and adapt appropriate systems design methods, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches, whilst ensuring they are delivered effectively.
- You’ll undertake impact analysis on design options and trade-offs, make recommendations, and assess and manage associated risks, whilst ensuring that the project design balances functional and non-functional requirements.
- Reviewing others’ designs you’ll ensure the selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and the integration of multiple systems and technology, whilst contributing to the development of architecture policies, standards and selection of architecture components.
Relationship Management & Expert Advice
- You’ll identify the communications and relationship needs of stakeholder groups, whilst facilitating open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining and working on stakeholder engagement strategies and plans, to facilitate business decision-making processes.
- Actively maintaining recognised expert-level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms, you’ll oversee the provision of specialist advice by others, and consolidate expertise from multiple sources, including third-party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives.
To be successful in this role
You’ll have experience in carrying out the architect responsibilities defined above in at least one medium project from inception to completion, in addition to:
Essential:
- Creating solution architecture/designs as a Project Architect or similar.
- Technical expertise to guide and mentor technical staff, influence the technical direction, and work closely with wider architecture and solution design.
- Telecoms products and system architecture.
Desirable:
- Salesforce and/or Pega.
- Working in a matrix-managed team.
- Agile and DevOps working practices.
