Job description
Cloud 9 are thrilled to be working exclusively with a leading packaging company to source a Production Planner in the South West due to promotion of the predecessor! This is a fantastic opportunity that offers a varied and interesting role where you will be responsible for the daily monitoring and managing of inventories in line with sales forecasts. For this role you will need 2 years production planning experience, ideally in the packaging industry – although applications are invited from other manufacturing sectors, and be fluent in SAP. Main Responsibilities
- Using SAP manage day to day planning and capacity, such as pallets, paper inputs and other consumables.
- Work with sales to provide paper purchasing and develop exact paper forecasts.
- Ensure capacity and planning are applied in the most effective way by creating, executing and managing a system.
- Using OMP measure production hours and capacity forecast to ensure sales orders and production hours harmonise.
- Build excellent customer relations with regard to supply chain issues.
- Manage bought in board and agree sub-contract partners.
- Anticipate and resolve potential material shortages.
- Optimise and balance customer service, waste and production output by ensuring work orders are scheduled.
- Work closely with colleagues in operations to reach agreement and improve production hours to ensure sales forecasts are met.
- Set up key suppliers on specified types of work by creating and improving the subcontract process.
- Reporting to the Operations Director ensure all potential new customers fit the criteria for acceptance.
- Examine the best fit between board grades and capacity run on a regular basis, to include deckle analysis.
- Strategically manage stock, production budgets and balancing sales in conjunction with Sales Director and Operations.
- Agree improvements for efficiently managing how and when runners and repeaters are ran to ensure targets are met.
- Be active in the decision-making process for when the push and pull strategy should be utilised in capacity and planning.
- Provide a strong communication network between all departments and customers.
- Manage stock levels.
- Manage customer demand by using capacity while maximizing on profitability and production.
- Actively effect situations to ensure optimal capacity is managed regularly.
- Deliver excellent customer service that benefits both the customer and the company.
- Ensure capacity stays in line by responding to Management of Bin C.
- Ensure orders waiting for production are planned within agreed lead time and according to capacity.
- Create and produce reports to further understand current trends.
The Person
- You will have at least 2 years’ experience in production planning.
- Ideally you will have experience working in the packaging industry.
- You must be fluent in SAP.
- You will be a creative thinker in your presentation of information and of new ways of analysing ordering trends of customers.
- You will have the ability to challenge and develop new methods of improving capacity and efficiency in operations.
- You will be technically minded and have the ability to interpret customer needs and ensure these are met.
- You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to present recommendations to management confidently.
- You will be organised and able to prioritise your workload.
- You will be a good at judging situations and confident to take necessary action in order to implement change.
Remuneration
You will receive an attractive salary between £30k and £35k DOE.
