Production Planner with sound knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP), who is a strong, clear communicator with excellent time management and organisation skills is required for a well-established company based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of production planning within a low volume, bespoke manufacturing facility with experience of supply-chain management, business management or a related field.
SALARY: £35,000 per annum
LOCATION: Wisbech, Cambridgeshire
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 07:30 – 16:00hrs
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Production Planner with sound knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP), who is a strong, clear communicator with excellent time management and organisation skills.
Working as the Production Planner you will join a well-established manufacturing business where the production type is bespoke and low volume (approx. 220 units per year).
As the Production Planner you can expect to enter an environment that currently has very little strategical production planning in place, so you will have something to get your teeth stuck into! You will be responsible for helping the business build a system that ensures success, and to do so will be able to work closely with the production planner in another of the company’s sites to see what’s been implemented there.

DUTIES
Your duties as a Production Planner will include:
Produce a live production plan to deliver the annual budgeted volumes, ensuring any issues are highlighted and resolved swiftly to minimise production delay
Work with sales to ensure specification of orders is clear and correctly relayed both internally and externally
Leading frequent production meetings, ensuring clear and accurate communication of deadlines and progress is maintained
Undertaking capacity planning projects, ensuring the business has the correct resource in place to meet budgeted production output figures
Work closely with production managers and supervisors to ensure the production plan is delivered
Work closely with stores to ensure material availability is sufficient to deliver the production plan on time, in full
Utilising the inventory management system (DMS) to raise orders for external services, such as alloy, tipping gears, paint, sheeting etc.…
Work with third-party suppliers, giving clear instructions on delivery dates and turn-around times, ensuring these meet the production plan
Utilising the Inventory Management System (DMS) as a source of data to compile status and performance reports to key stakeholders in the business
Organising logistics for off-site services
Working with the business Inventory Management System (DMS) to ensure clocking hours are correctly recorded, job cards are raised, and general upkeep of the system is maintained
Continually identify opportunities to eliminate waste from the production process using a range of LEAN methodologies
Recommending viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improving production quality and delivery
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
A successful production planner with a proven track record of managing a low volume, bespoke manufacturing facility
Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is critical
Experience in supply-chain management, business management or related field is important
Minimum level 3 qualification in Maths and English
Project Management qualifications would be highly desirable. However, relevant experience will be considered
Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) is advantageous
Sound knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP)
A strong, clear communicator with the ability to think strategically

Able to work well under pressure in a highly diverse environment
Commercially astute with an eye for detail
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Strong IT skills to include MS office (specifically excel) and inventory management systems
Confident, Optimistic, resilient and welcomes change
