Could you be the full-time Production Inventory Planner in Hatfield we’re looking for?


Overview

You are in charge of launching, coordinating and controlling the progress of production orders / Service orders according to the Master Production / Repairs schedule.



The role of the Production Planner/Scheduler is a diverse position covering the planning, scheduling, releasing and tracking of workflow from the engineering department and through the manufacturing department.

This position receives drawing packages and requisitions from engineering personnel, adds planning data, enters the packages in the company MRP (GSI) system, copies, assembles, and further prepares drawing packs for manufacture.

The Production Planner creates tracks and reports on the current production status of released components. This position functions as a liaison between D&Is's Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Shipping/Receiving departments.

It is a focal point among all departments to effectively communicate and help meet project requirements.The Inventory Planner will be part of the Supply Chain department and will be responsible for managing the adequacy

between demand and resources to rech customers QCD (Quality, Cost and Delivery) and projects timescales while optimising site resources.


Responsibilities

  • Function as the focal point in creating a production schedule using the GSI system.
  • The production schedule’s purpose is to provide a means to track and a manage daily manufacturing workload, provide
  • feedback to engineering on in-house vs sub-contracted manufacturing hours and provide regular reporting on manufacturing status.
  • The production schedule will provide an in-depth audit on production requirements, manufacturing capacity, schedule, and workforce size.
  • Monitors, analyses, and reports performance to schedule of production activities utilising information derived from material and production control systems.
  • Coordinate with project managers and production to sequence manufacturing, assembly and installation.
  • Assist the manufacturing department to actively manage the production schedule.
  • Research and assign manufacturing times and due dates on parts as needed and document during the releasing process.
  • Coordinate with departments and project managers as needed to identify and resolve issues.
  • Monitor quality, service, and delivery issues, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify and resolve supplier and internal errors that result in budget or schedule discrepancies.
  • Provide continuous improvement of the planning and reporting processes.
  • Participate in project milestone meetings.
  • Analyse project information and requests received from engineering personnel via an engineering chang-notice, to effectively communicate the requirements to purchasing and manufacturing personnel
  • Accurately maintain part-master database in the SAP system
  • Correctly assess whether required parts can be issued from Finished Goods Inventory, should be manufactured
  • in-house, or sub-contracted to outside vendors. For parts sub-contracted to outside vendors, estimate the
  • amount of in-house manufacturing hours and costs to be converted to vendor costs.
  • Research order and delivery discrepancies and resolve MRP related issues. Take appropriate corrective actions
  • to prevent similar issues.
  • Stay informed of current projects, manufacturing workload, and manufacturing processes.
  • Function as the focal point to move towards a more efficient system of entering engineering releases. The goal
  • is continual improvement of the processes being utilized.
  • Coordinate and manage special projects as required.
  • Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of procedures and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of projects, individuals and the company.
  • Responsible for Producing and Submitting monthly KPIs to management to Monitor company performance

Requirements

  • Extensive experience of using GSI in a manufacturing environment, electronics preferred.
  • Experience within the Rail Industry or similar.
  • Excellent understanding of Supply Chain & logistics principles and processes within a project environment , including demand management and material planning.
