Our client work with the automotive, medical, aerospace and food industries and are seeking a Production Supervisor to work in their Production department within a regulated industry reporting to the Operations Manager.
The ideal candidate will have several years’ experience in a production department, within a regulated industry (automotive, medical, aerospace or food industry) working to the following objectives:
· Accurate and timely completion of job orders
· Supervise the Production Operators - includes hiring, managing training and development, general support and mentoring, appraisals, absence requests, evaluation and discipline
· Achieve and then excel against goals for the work area
· Promote and lead health & safety culture (carry out risk assessments where necessary)
TECHNICAL JOB-RELATED SKILLS
· IT literate
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Numerate, with the ability to analyse and present basic statistical data
· Experience in managing teams of people in a manufacturing or production environment.
· Knowledge in MRP system
· Good understanding on manufacturing & assembly processes
· Ability to present and demonstrate the production process to customers
QUALIFICATIONS
· Manufacturing qualification advantageous e.g. Lean, continuous improvement etc
· IOSH Managing Safely certificate would be advantageous

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(please note this is not an exhaustive list of duties but represents the main requirements of the role)
Specific responsibilities
· Plan and schedule activities within Production in collaboration with other departments, including:
- Scheduling of customer orders to ensure timely delivery and supply of good quality products and information to other departments
- Manufacture of solder paste
- Filling, labelling, and packaging as per customer order
- Equipment preventive and predictive maintenance and servicing
- Adherence to Health and Safety Policy and Environmental Policy
· Maintain functional knowledge of processes within Production and coordinate resources to ensure orders are completed on time and in accordance with quality requirements
· Develop operating processes to ensure positive performance against KPIs
· Update SOPs and other controlled documents and approval of departmental controlled docs
· Access computer systems to complete all required documentation to track work, record scrap, and maintain accurate records of completed parts and required inventory
· Apply Lean manufacturing principles and promote continuous improvement in productivity and in the elimination of waste
· Raise Purchase Order Requisitions and Transfer Orders as necessary
· Review and approve time management records
· Develop and maintain spreadsheets containing operational data and be well-versed in interpreting and presenting key performance metrics based on said data
· Reporting KPI performance to Operations Manager
· Health and Safety Representative, including risk assessments, training and incident investigation and report writing
· Ensure activities are performed safely
· Ensure adherence to IATF16949 and customer requirements
· Involvement in external audits, supported by rest of Supervisor team and Operations Manager
· Sign off on TEOs and MRBs
· Involvement in FMEA and Control Plan reviews
· Customer complaints relating to production - investigation and reporting
· Project lead
· CAPAs relating to Production
· Maintenance of equipment list Ensure plant performance meets Safety, Quality and Performance targets
· Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
General
· Adhere to all company policies, procedures ensuring that all processes and procedures comply with operational and statutory requirements
· Plan and manage internal communications and possess an awareness of corporate brand, direction, aims and activities.
· Be vigilant of deficiencies in business operations and pass on any unresolved or continuing issues and recommendations to the Operations Manager
· Carry out any other duties necessary with a willingness to be flexible with working hours to respond to the needs of the company.
· Undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required from time to time.
· Undertake training consistent with developing skills relevant to those duties and responsibilities of the role.
· Be vigilant in matters relating to health and safety within and external to the company’s offices. Adherence to H, S and E rules and ensuring workforce comply
· Workforce management of the Production Operators
· hiring, termination, disciplinary investigation and action, conflict resolution, mentoring, appraisals, assessment, goal defining
· Training, leave management, task allocation
· Engaging the front-line staff in process improvement activities
· Support other areas as necessary
· Working technical knowledge of work processes to be able to question activities or unexpected occurrences
· Act as cover for Production Operators as necessary
· Approval of purchase requisition and transfer orders
· Budget control for department
· Continual improvement: seeking ideas from employees and ensuring implementation of worthwhile suggestions
