Job description
Siemens is creating its first UK based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
With an initial contract to assemble nearly 50 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground we are starting to recruit up to 300 skilled technical and support colleagues at in our Manufacturing Facility.
In the near future follow-on work is expected to bring this number of trains into the hundreds, along with an expansion on the site into maintenance and overhaul activities displaying a long-term commitment to the area and growth in employment and career opportunities.
- As a Logistics Supervisor, you will coordinate and organise the flow of materials to the Assembly team around the production plan in a safe way to meet the requirements of the production plan
- You will be experienced in the use of regular and specialist MHE, with training provided, moving small and large items individually and as a part of a team
- The success of our operations relies on the safe flow of material through the production process, meaning this role and the team it supports is pivotal in ensuring our Assembly programme runs to schedule.

This is your role. What part will you play?
To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate:
- Proven track record of prioritising safety in operational environments
- Experience of working within a supply chain environment in a similar supervisory role
- Understanding of different types of mechanical handling equipment and their uses / limitations when it comes to material transportation
- Competence in producing and then ensuring a team work to a set schedule
- Strong communication skills across a variety of methods
It would also be helpful to have experience of the following:
- Experience of working with heavy machinery, such as cranes or shunting vehicles
- Experience of setting up material flow strategies for production lines
- HSE qualification (such as IOSH / NEBOSH)
- SAP or similar systems experience
