We are currently recruiting a Junior Buyer to join our Procurement team on a permanent basis.
The ideal candidate would be CIPS qualified. Nonetheless, this is not mandatory as the qualification can be funded by the Company once the probationary period is completed.

Salary: £25,000/year

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide a professional procurement service which achieves value for money and high stakeholder satisfaction as well as to deliver outcomes and objectives as agreed with the Procurement Manager.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Negotiating directly with suppliers to ensure the company benefits from the best rates and terms for the supply of goods and services.
- In partnership with the Purchasing manager approve bid proposals and specifications to make recommendations on purchases.
- Supplier approval administration duties and supplier relationship building.
- Progress purchase orders and communicate issues to members of the purchasing team and production department.
- Arrange for delivery of ordered material from our supply chain and storage facility to expedite flow of materials and meet production schedules.
- Placement of orders for Direct and Indirect materials, in conjunction with company guidelines.
- Monitor stationary stock levels and reorder when appropriate.
- Ownership and monitoring of Kanfax and Vending machine contracts ensuring continuous supply in line with production and contract requirements.
- Provide support to internal departments on issues concerning purchasing and stock control.
- Assist in month/year end financial processing, to ensure effective management of purchasing cycle.
- Assist and contribute, when requested, in company/procurement improvement projects.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined, you must be prepared to undertake such additional duties which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity change the general character or level of responsibility to the post.
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
- Highly proficient user of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Knowledge and experience of MRP software packages.
- Experience of expediting materials.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Team player with an ability to work on own initiative.
- Experience of Purchasing within a heavy industrial, manufacturing or automotive environment involving high risk, high value services or supplies (desirable).
