We are a creative construction and manufacturing company and are responsible for delivering some of the most iconic projects in recent times. We are a multi-disciplined manufacturing facility spread over 12,000Sqm of estate with four manufacturing and storage facilities, engineering, fabrication, woodwork, finishing and a specialist manufacturing facility.
The joinery manufacturing capabilities at Stage One crosses a broad spectrum: from simple scenic flats to all manner of specialist scenic construction. Staging, treads and rostra through to exhibitions, shop fitting, furniture and bespoke sculptures.
Lead Carpenters support the Department Supervisor by leading sub-teams and running projects through the wood workshop to a high standard as required.
Lead Carpenter Role
Lead Carpenters work in the Wood Workshop and support the Department Supervisor by carrying out bench joinery tasks, leading teams and running projects through the workshop to a high standard as required. This role may also require travel to site to assist in the installation of a project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construction of components as required ensuring that the highest standards in finish and tolerances in accordance with information supplied, are achieved using the correct methods.
- Leading a team of Joiners and following day to day production plans in order to meet project deadlines.
- Liaise with the design and production team and give input into new ideas/designs.
- To take the lead role on a specific project and working with other Joiners, take it through the workshop from start to finish including a full test build and maybe installing on-site too.
- Be able to work with no/minimum supervision when required, using own initiative.
- Be able to solve problems and make decisions when needed.
- Attend briefing meetings and be able to make suggestions for production.
- Record all builds as complete by ensuring that the internal database is checked off.
- Help to manage the quality control of finished items and ensure that these are checked and conform to the QMS.
- Clearly communicate with Department Supervisors, Production Staff & other departments all relevant information including job briefs, job progress and any problems and/or issues.
- To be flexible and assist other Departments / Supervisors when required.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety Regulations and promote a safe working environment by actively incorporating H&S into everyday activities.
- Actively pursue self-development to increase job knowledge and skills.
- Maintain Housekeeping standards by actively promoting and following 5S and Environmental procedures.
