Could you be the full-time Production Cell Engineer in Plymouth we’re looking for?
The Production Cell Engineer is based on site at Plymouth, UK, supporting the onsite assembly, testing and repair of DIgital and Information System Wayside and Onboard electronic products. The Production Cell Engineer is responsible for resolving or managing the resolution of all technical isses on his/her Cell. The role is focused on ensuring the continuity of production, maintenance of technical manufacturing documentation and Continuous Improvement.
The electronic products use the wide range of Alstom signalling technologies including the SMARTLOCK 400T system, EBITrack, RF Products, Modular Control Systems and VHLC. The successful candidate will be part of a multidiscipline team dealing with complex mechanical and electrical products to ensure the needss of our Customers are met. Our engineering teams are supporting some of the most significant projects within the UK and around the World.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Manage and undertake the required engineering activities within the following areas:
- Resolution of mechanical, electronic and test technical issues, in order to maintain production.
- Resoultion of supplier non conformities.
- Continuous improvement to increase productivity, quality and reduce lead-time / cycle time.
- Adhere to the organisation’s production engineering management system within the local location and across multiple sites when required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Production Shop Support and resolution of all technical issues (Material, Process, Equipment etc.)
- Resolution of Product Non-Conformities
- Management of Material Non-Conformities using NCR process
- Engineering Change Management (material, product development, process development etc.)
- Document & SAP Management (BOM’s, Work Instructions, Process Instructions, etc.)
- Calibration Management (Test Systems & Tooling)
- Investigation of root causes, finding and implementing corrective solutions
- Product Query Form Management
- Support to reactive Obsolescence / Long Lead-time issues
- APSYS (Alstom Production System) Industrialisation Tasks
- Improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness(OEE) and Cell efficiency.
- Continuous Improvement
- Creation of Standard Times
- Creation of Value Stream Maps, Process Failure Mode Effectivity Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans
- Monitoring of Lost Time / Quality Defects
- Engineering Feedback Note reduction
Postholder Requirements
Essential:
Good communications skills
Excellent mechanical or electrical (prefered) skills
Tenacity, Team Working and enthusiasm to support day to day issues and to continuusly improve the production cell.
Experience of:
Working in a lean manufacturing environment
Organising and managing a large number of complex tasks
Teamworking and colaboration
Desirable:
Electrical or electronic knowledge and experience
Qualifications:
Minimum HNC/HND level education in an engineering / manufacturing discipline
