Job description

Title: Senior Production Editor

HelloFresh is in search of an organized and detail-oriented Senior Production Editor to join our growing Editorial Team. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational, grammar, recipe editing, food writing, proofreading, and technical data-entry skills. We are a fast-moving team with a focus on producing precise, engaging, educational content. This role is a hybrid of what an Asst. Managing Editor role and a Senior Production Coordinator would be within a more traditional publication team structure.

The Senior Production Editor, reporting to the Managing Editor, is responsible for a broad range of tasks and responsibilities, which typically span multiple positions within the editorial structure of a more traditional publication team. This role is continuously collaborating with the culinary team, nutrition team, photo team, product operations team, menu planning team, project managers, editors, proofreaders, and production designers to produce over 100 recipe cards and meal stories every week across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, and Factor brands.

The ideal candidate should have an understanding of project management as it relates to editorial workflows, with the ability to meet tight deadlines while also maintaining great flexibility when necessary. Details, timelines, and organization are your love languages. You enjoy collaborating with co-workers across multiple departments, and know how to facilitate a constant stream of communication. More than anything else, you understand that HelloFresh recipes are the most important connection we have with our consumers, and a successful recipe ensures a truly successful customer experience.

You will...

  • Manage and oversee Asst. Editor
  • Collaborate with the Editorial team to produce over 100 recipe cards every week and contribute editorial web support across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, and Factor brands. This includes:
    • Overseeing our recipe database and menu indexing documents to ensure editors are pulling information from one accurate source of truth across the brand portfolio
    • Collecting and consolidating recipe feedback from internal business partners and acting as liaison between the Editorial, Menu Planning, Culinary, and Project Management teams
    • Acting as senior point of contact for Editorial changes applicable to recipe cards
    • Overseeing sweeping recipe and menu changes as needed
    • Overseeing all brand partnership marketing info requests on recipe cards
    • Overseeing ingredient SKU changes into recipe docs as needed
    • Overseeing reprints of recipe cards as needed
    • Overseeing customer care communications
    • Ensure quality control of recipe cards, to include photography, ingredients, steps, and requested changes are accounted for
    • Contribute to editorial efforts on specialty projects
    • Meet deadlines across all projects and tasks
  • Pitch in at various editorial checkpoints, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accuracy among recipes. This may include helping with:
    • Reviewing recipe titles, descriptions, ingredient names, and instructions to ensure they align with brand-specific tone and style guidelines
    • Updating recipe information in editorial tools and documents due to change requests
  • Oversee recipe adjustments from Culinary, Operations, and Brand Partnerships teams with the speed and agility to evaluate the impact of late-stage changes and communicate such changes to stakeholders as needed
  • Assist the Managing Editor across all brands. This includes:
    • Identifying and communicating efficiency opportunities within all workflows and processes in order to increase team productivity and output
    • Organizing onboarding and training of new team members, as well as additional training for the Editorial team
    • Providing support for data-tracking and analysis in order to support growing business needs
    • Assisting with freelance budgets and invoice approvals
  • Lead meetings with cross-functional teams such as task forces and check-ins
  • Maintain Editorial database of helpful documents and SOPs, style guides and training documents
  • Act as a liaison between the Editorial, Project Management and Business Technology Teams to create and improve process efficiencies
  • Act as a liaison between the Editorial and Recipe Review (Analytics) Teams to create better customer experiences with recipe cards

You have…

  • 5+ years experience in editorial project management and content management and creation–a senior-level management role in food media is a plus and a culinary degree is an added bonus
  • A Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or a Communications-related field
  • A deep understanding of creative and production processes
  • An interest in the culinary world, with a comfort level re: techniques and ingredients—you find yourself reading cookbooks in your spare time and scouring social media for the latest culinary trends… or at least talking about them with others!
  • An impeccable eye for detail and nuance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs and project management software (we use Wrike)
  • Knowledgeable in copy editing, proofreading, AP style, and ensuring adherence to style guides

  • Access to 6 different Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) including those for minorities, women, veterans, parents, and LGBTQ+
