The Role Is
The role is a hybrid role, principally to cover maternity leave for the API Product Owner but also supporting other projects within the company as a Project Manager.
This role will sit within the API product ‘workstream’ to proactively seek input from internal and external sources in the development and delivery a product strategy and roadmap.
The role may also support other projects within the Company, co-ordinating internal technology, workstream and business resources.
They will be expected to drive delivery of project objectives, ensuring that key stakeholders are kept informed on process and that any issues are escalated in a timely manner, with mitigating actions suggested as appropriate.

Key Accountabilities Include
Planning
Research and analyse market, regulatory environment and follow our competitors and the industry to drive strategy and prioritisation of deliverables- Input into the quarterly API roadmap in collaboration with the Chief Data Officer
- Plan and prioritise product feature backlog and development for the API products
- Regularly reviewing business requirements to ensure deliverables remain timely and clear, and implementation plans align with wider business objectives
Take the lead of scrum team as the API Product Owner- Assess value, develop cases, and prioritise stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
- Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint demos & retrospectives
- Lead the planning of product release plans and set the expectation for delivery of new functionalities
- Follow Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends
- Cost benefit analysis of product deliverables
Working with the Head of Project Delivery, drive Delivery of designated projects to scope, time, and budget- Organise and facilitate kick-off sessions and oversee requirements gathering (functional and non-functional)
- Complete weekly and monthly project status reporting for wider business review and prioritisation
- Ensure all project documentation is accurate and up to date
- Identify internal and external dependencies with other projects
Identify resource requirements during initiation and work with stakeholders to secure resource- Co-ordinate resources throughout the project lifecycle either through team meetings and/or daily scrums
- Resolve any resource conflicts and dependencies with other PMs / Workstream product owners
- Manage internal Stakeholders through regular steering meetings with key sponsors, including creation of steering packs, minute taking and maintenance of RAIDD logs
- Collaborate with Technology Department Heads to ensure impacts to testing, platform, information security and service desk / application support are fully considered
Risk and Control Management
- Identify and manage Project risks and issues, escalating to Steerco as required
- Ensuring internal and external regulatory requirements are included and risk assessed appropriately
You'll Need to Have
Essential:
Experience as a Product Owner or Project Manager- In-depth knowledge of agile process and principles
- Demonstrated experience implementing business and technology projects and delivering change
- Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle
- Experience with a definition of minimum marketable features and minimum viable products
- Ability to elicit pragmatic solutions, whilst maximising business benefit
- Confidence in escalating issues where there are project blockers
- Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
- Exceptional organisation abilities
- Confident liaising with senior stakeholders, managing their expectations and leveraging their time effectively
- Ability to deliver in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities
- Effective team working
Desirable:
Scrum / Product Owner Certifications- Knowledge of formal Project Management methodologies such as (PRINCE2/Agile/APMP)
- Publishing of services to partners/third parties via API’s
- Consumption of third-party API’s
- OBIE Open Banking and FAPI security framework
- Regulatory related projects (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR, PSD2)
- Financial services experience
- Consumer and commercial banking
- Payment schemes and processing (e.g. Faster Payments, Swift, Direct Debit, SEPA)
- Familiarity with the Microsoft technology stack (.net / SQL) and IBM-MQ
- Awareness of relevant technical and security standards e.g. PCI-DSS, ISO27000/1
