We are looking for you to join our team at the Turbine Blade Facility (TBF) in Derby in our Product Make roles.
The Turbines Business Unit is responsible for the Turbine sub-system, focusing on the design, manufacturing and delivery of turbine components. The Turbine Blade Facility (TBF) manufactures turbine blades through a variety of automated CNC/EDM machining and inspection operations. The TBF receives raw material from a number of casting suppliers and then carries out machining operations before shipping components to customer (engine build or spares/aftermarket).
You will be required to work on shifts as part of our shop floor team in a machining facility for High Pressure Turbine Blades. With a focus on quality standards, you will help deliver parts at rate to satisfy our customer demand and we also encourage ideas for continuous improvement as we constantly strive to be better.

What you will be doing
In this role, you will be:
  • Manufacturing components through machining processes and inspecting output from the cells. Responding to any errors in an appropriate manner to the defined procedures.
  • Supporting machine tools to ensure they continue to operate as effectively and efficiently (e.g. part loading and unloading, basic tool maintenance, inspection, managing consumables).
  • Ensuring that the cell working environment is maintained in the optimum condition (e.g. Asset care, TPM, 5s audits and sustainment tasks).
  • Working flexibly as part of the whole team and controlling workflow through the cell. Taking responsibility for producing quality products, identifying and supporting improvement activities and cell housekeeping.
  • As part of working in the role you will be trained in one or more of the following processes: Viper grinding, conventional grinding, Electro Discharge Machining, High speed EDM, Welding, de-burring, Part marking & Inspection techniques.

  • Knowledge and experience of CNC machining is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge and experience of EDM processes is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge and experience of inspection is preferred but not essential.
  • The successful candidates will demonstrate team-working skills and continuous improvement (including understanding of lean principles)
