WHAT TO EXPECT

The New Product Introduction (NPI) team within the EMC Plant Quality department supports the Launch of new products into the Plant.

The NPI team co-ordinates and ensures the delivery of Plant Quality activities during Launch whilst also working cross-functionally with other departments, especially Manufacturing Programme Management (MPM) and Launch to ensure the development and embedment of Quality processes in Launches before current production.

The role of the Quality Engineer will be to support this, guiding the team based on IATF 16949 and JLR Quality Management System (QMS) requirements to ensure a successful launch to Quality across all technology areas such as Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) - Machining and Assembly, Electric Drive Units (EDU) and Battery Assembly

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Governance of Launch Processes within EMC.
  • Management and Delivery of the EMC Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Management and Delivery of the EMC Build, Batch and Hold (BBAH)
  • Monitoring of External Supplier Part Submission Warrants (PSW)
  • Review and approval of Equipment commissioning reports
  • Support of cross-functional creation, update, review and approval of Process Creation and Development documents such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans
  • Attend and Report out in relevant meetings/forums
  • Management and completion of "Business as usual" activities such as Attendance Management, Scorecard completion, 5S Workplace organisation, Kaizens etc.

    Skills required:
  • Knowledge of Product Launch Process
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949
  • Knowledge of and experience in the implementation of the Automotive Core Quality Tools (Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • IT skills in the use of Spreadsheets e.g Excel, and Presentations e.g PowerPoint
  • Ability to use different methodologies of Problem Solving
  • Experience of working in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Proactive

    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing discipline or equivalent (desirable)
  • Significant experience ideally in an automotive sector.
  • Knowledge of Quality/Core tools including FMEAs, SPC, Standard Work Sheets, Quality Process Sheets, Control Plans and Capability studies, PPAP and PPS
  • Experience of working with Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology and tools (desirable)
  • Ability of identification deficiency and correction.
  • Continual Quality Improvement
