The Town of South Kingstown is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Coordinator in the Department of Parks and Recreation. South Kingstown is an active ocean front community of 30,000 on the beautiful Rhode Island coast. The Recreation Coordinator works under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent and is responsible for developing, organizing, coordinating and curating engaging content for events offered by the Parks and Recreation Department.
Specific responsibilities for the Marketing and Community Events Recreation Coordinator include posting and updating content daily across multiple media platforms. This position will be charged with promoting the department’s vision through the creation and execution of diverse and progressive marketing materials, promotions and tactics. The Recreation Coordinator will need to monitor social media channels for industry trends, monitor user engagement levels for all digital and online platforms as well as review analytics and create reports to provide recommendations based on key metrics. The Marketing and Community Events Recreation Coordinator will collaborate with other town departments and community partners to post program news and share updates to expand engagement. They will manage development of departmental publications such as the seasonal brochure, seasonal postcards and digital media. This position will coordinate and lead the Recreation Department’s day trip program as well as plan and facilitate free community events such as the community yard sale, fishing derby and egg hunt events.
The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible experience in digital marketing and recreation program development. Certified National Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) status is preferred.
This 40-hour per week, NEA local SKMEA position starts at an hourly rate of $23.37 and upon successful completion of a six-month probation period increases to $24.03 per hour, and includes a full benefit package as outlined in the NEARI, Local SKMEA 826 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Nights and weekends may occasionally be required for attendance at special events.
