Jonny's Sister Ltd is a personalised gift company that has been trading for over 17 years. As well as their own website, they work with John Lewis, Next, Not on the High Street and Joules to name but a few.
The position of Product Designer requires a minimum of 12 months design experience, preferably within gifting/homeware. A degree or similar in a relevant subject is required. The successful candidate will need to hit the ground running so proven and relevant experience is essential. We will consider a part time position for the right person.
Full details of the position will be discussed at interview but, in brief, it carries the following requirements:
Product Design JD
- To work from a brief or from your own initiative based on trends, gifting occasions and company needs.
- To research the market for comparative products and customer appetite.
- Source products.
- Create digital and physical mock-ups and templates for approval.
- Test new designs to ensure they are feasible for production and fit within time and financial constraints.
- Redesign products/personalisations for different retailers.
- Design bespoke products for corporate clients.
- Prepare products for photography, help with the organisation of props and location.
- Work with photographer on product styling
- Edit images post photography, including adding personalisation
- Introduce new products and designs to the production studio and demonstrate new production methods if needed.
- Support the studio team in production during busy periods
- Design branded packing materials.
Skills needed
- Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom
- Digital design
- Visualisation (product mocks up, putting text and illustrations onto a pre-existing images)
- Photo editing
- Illustration/ drawing
- Layout design/ ability to design with typefaces and colour
- Digitize files for embroidery (preferable but not essential)
